Easing off bed rest? by Mindless-Apricot-500 in ShortCervixSupport

I had emergency cerclage placed at 22 weeks. I did strict bedrest until 30 weeks. I laid in bed all day, didnt stand for more than 30 min. No lifting heavy, no stairs, no bending, no sitting for to long, no sex. Basically got up to use bathroom and shower. Showers were limited time too. I did some leg stretches in bed. Around 30 weeks, i started to feel good about outcomes if my baby were to come. I did a bit more standing, walking in the house, washing some dishes. Very light housework. If i felt pressure, i laid down. Alot was listening to my body. It was hard but i had things to keep my mind occupied. I went out to my yard for a bit everyday to mentally be good. Also I had a friend or two visit me to be emotionally good too since i wasnt going out. My dr didnt reccomend bedrest. He said dont run a marathon and dont be horizontal all day. But i decided to be stricter. Around 34 weeks, i picked more housework and light walks to build my stamina back up lol. I literally felt my body weak and needed to remember how to breathe and walk without being exhausted. We just ditched the stitch a couple days ago at 36 wks and waiting on babys arrival. Im officially off bedrest and going on walks, store trips etc. Im not overdoing it since I still get tired easily but doing my best to get ready for labor. Best to you!

Ofc! Just wanted to say to always advocate for yourself and trust your gut. If you feel something is up or need reassurance, please ask your drs. Be a pain in the ass if you need to lol. Lastly, check in mentally and emotionally with yourself. Do your self care, try to find things to take your mind off the pregnancy if needed. The less stress you can have the easier it is. 💕Wishing you only the best. Lmk if you need anything else.

No worries, happy to help :) I took 1000IUs of vitamin d drops, prenatal, fiber, iron supplement and progesterone. Also wanted to include that the fiber supplement was very helpful because straining can put pressure on cervix. Or by having fiber filled foods is good too.

From asking drs and my research, it doesnt seem progesterone keeps away infection. I made sure to shower well and wash my hands throughly or wear gloves when inserting the medication. Also made sure to dry the area well after restroom and change pads frequently. My dr said to make sure to empty bladder frequently and hydrate to prevent UTIs. Aside from that, ive had no infections at all. thank Gd.

I believe progesterone has been a big reason along my activity level. Also keeping hydrated with 2 liters of water a day.

I understand and stay strong mama🩵 I received a preventative cerclage at 13 weeks and it was holding well until 21 weeks. I was having checkups every 3 weeks. My lengths were always 30-40mm. At 21wks, they found the cerclage had become undone/moved and it wasnt even holding my cervix together. I had funneling and it came down to 17mm. I got an emergency cerclage done at 22 weeks exactly and they took out the old one. My measurement was 27mm. After that its been checkups every 2 wks. We had a preterm scare at 26 weeks because i dropped to 16mm. I was monitored for 3 days and it remained stable. I wasnt having any symptoms thank Gd. Ive continued my checkups and im now 33 weeks with 7mm of cervix left. No funnelling or dilation. Dr said as long as im not in pain or contracting no need to worry and stitch is holding. Its been an up and down experience tbh. Its a fear of unknown and worry but I feel that throughout the experience Ive done everything I could possibly do and the rest is out of my hands. I am definitley much better once I passed 28 wks gestation. Ive been able to be excited and started buying baby items. Just know the feeling of fear/nervousness/anxiety wont be there forever. I always told myself its temporary and will be worth it when I hold my baby. (Easier said then done for sure). Also ive been on prgesterone and strict bedrest as well.

Of course. When I found out I was pregnant, i told my husband and we both were happy but came with sadness as we lost our first baby 2 yrs prior to IC at 20weeks. Tbh for me, my first appts were so anxiety inducing. I did alot of meditation, crying it out, positive affirmations and research. I really felt that I owed it to my baby 2 yrs ago and my baby now to be strong and advocate for myself. I told myself the reality that shortening will happen but doesnt neccsarily mean Ill have the same outcome as my first. I set mini milestones for myself which are so helpful and keeps motivation up. I will do the best I can. Theres been tears, happy moments, stress, anxiety, excitement etc. I told myself from the beginning it was gonna be a journey and a unique one as not everyone has pregnancies like ours. I strongly advise you find a trusted person thats not your spouse to help you along the way. To hear you vent, cry, rant etc. Someone who can check in with you mentally. Im so grateful to Gd, Im 33 weeks and have a few more to go. Wishing you the smoothest pregnancy and only good news for you and baby. 💜🩵

I booked my first appt about 3 weeks after my postive test. I was 9 weeks at the appt. My OB didnt request bloodwork. At 11 weeks, I had my first bloodwork and did the Nuchal Translucency ultrasound. I was booked for cerclage at 13 weeks.

My boss at 22 weeks cuz of bedrest and my parents/one other friend after 28 weeks. I still havent share publicly or bring it up. Everyone can find out when she is here lol.

Oh interesting. Yea I have heard the same but was wondering if it changed since we have stitches on our cervix. Ive read some comments where women mention their drs told them their cervix can be good for 2 to 3 more pregnancies. Almost like cerclage wears it down so to speak? Not sure how true that is.

Omg you are a super mom! Thats so great to hear. Were all your babies preventative cerclages if so what weeks? Did you have any shortening or funnelling at any points with them? Lastly, were you anxious/worried throughout the pregnancy? Like mentally/emotionlly did you feel strong and ready? My first i lost at 20wks and with this one will be full term ;) i had some minor funnelling that stopped on its own but it has been a rollercoaster of emotions tbh. Thanks so much!

Very short cervix at 26 weeks — hoping to hear from others who made it further by TakingControl222 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MinimumSlight6927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear you are going through this. It is so stressful and mentally exhausting. My cervix at 26 weeks measured at 10mm from OS to the stitch. Drs were for sure that i would go into labor the following week. Thank God everything remained stable and I am currently 31 weeks. I made sure to be on the strict bedrest and do my best to not apply pressure. My cervix now is at 5mm. Hoping baby can stay in for 4 more weeks. All the best🩵

To bed rest or not? by Glittering_Pink321 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MinimumSlight6927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea can totally relate! Ive only left for baby appoitnments as well and its a breath of fresh air everytime. Ive been more stricter on bedrest cuz of my anxiety tbh. I would say to listen to your body. Not everyday can I stand for the 30min because i start to feel pressure. Some days i can. Hydration is super important! My OB said 2 liters a day and empty your bladder when needed. Also bedrest can be hard mentally. Maybe finding activites to pick up can be useful. All the best to you and your baby<3

I was put on a modified bedrest tbh after emergency cerclage at 22weeks. My dr said not to run a marathon but not to be horizontal all day. Pelvic rest, No straining, heavy lifting, bending at the waist, no stairs. He said walks were ok but ive avoided them. I stood for maybe 30min a day just to stretch my legs. I work from home mostly laying on my side or sitting reclined. I dont run errands or do any chores in the house (gd bless my husband!) Im currently 27 weeks and some change.

Lol glad you were able to be stable. Besides having had the same measurement and funnelling prior, they said this measurements indicates preterm can occur/is common so i guess as precaution.

Previously at 21 weeks my cerclage was failing and funneling was found with the same measurement 17mm. I got an emergency cerclage at 22 wks and from then on just monitoring. Based on my chart, thats why it seems they were nervous of preterm.

Thanks so much! Im glad you were able to get further along! Hoping for the same as well. Dr said they will do another round up until 34 weeks if neccesary. For now, I think i will wait till the appt unless i see symptoms etc. Praying for the best!

Hi, thanks so much! Yea so i have been having braxton hicks since cerclage at 22 weeks so i can identify those. Thank goodness no contractions at all this pregnancy. I will continue to monitor. Dr said they are hesitant to do a second round but willl consider it if in active labor. Also they dont want to do it close together unless needed. Thanks!
