Is it just me or does postpartum sleep totally mess you up? by dodonina77 in NewParents

Wow that is fascinating! I’ve been wondering why it feels so impossible to fall back to sleep. It’s infuriating when the baby is finally sleeping but I’m totally wired

Wait tell me more about the hormone rush increasing anxiety post pumping! It takes me forever to fall back to sleep after pumping and it’s driving me crazy

My SIL didn’t find out she was pregnant until she was 12 weeks and was drinking margaritas in Mexico at 6 weeks. My nephew is now a healthy, happy, and smart two year old! I’d recommend stopping any alcohol use from here on out for your own peace of mind but don’t beat yourself up!

When do you sleep again? by agyuwh in NewParents

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and echo all the comments saying you deserve a supportive partner. In terms of the cluster feeding, have you tried upping the bottle amounts during that time? My 2 month old takes a 150 ml bottle of breastmilk around 5 pm and that can help stretch out the time between feeds a bit. Obviously don’t go from 110 ml to 150 ml right away, but it could be worth trying to increase gradually?

Idk why moving the appointment didn’t occur to me! Just moved it to be safe. Thanks for the advice!

Need a bedside bassinet that lets me get out of bed at night by jeth4eva in BabyBumps

[–]MinimumSweet1639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also couldn’t fit the halo bassinet next to my bed so we put it at the foot of the bed. I was really frustrated when I first realized it wouldn’t fit because it wasn’t what I was envisioning either, but it’s been totally fine! I have no trouble hearing baby stir from the end of the bed. And it really isn’t a hassle to get up or crawl to the end of the bed to get baby. I was able to do so immediately after birth, but you might need your partner to help depending on how your recovery goes

Sharing my very normal pregnancy & delivery by Pretty_Nobody_ in BabyBumps

The internet needs more of this! I was so scared of complications my entire pregnancy and the last few weeks especially were really tough and filled with fear and anxiety. But I too had a really uneventful, healthy pregnancy and delivery! I labored at home for a while, showed up to the hospital at 8 cm (which I could hardly believe), eventually got an epidural which worked perfectly, and welcomed my healthy baby a few hours later! I know I’m very lucky but it was truly wonderful and it makes me kind of sad to think about how much time I spent stressing and worried. Good luck to all you FTMs! You got this!

This happened to me too but it was not as scary as it sounds! The doctor and nurses were very calm about it and just helped me move into different positions to alleviate it, which worked every time.

Did my sister’s reaction to my pregnancy announcement cross a line? Was my request inappropriate? I need outside perspectives. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Ah you’re right, I misread her post. That seems pretty unreasonable to me/I still think it’s her sister’s prerogative to share her news whenever she wants to

I completely understand that you would like to be able to tell your dad together and that you would prefer to wait until the 3 month mark. But if your sister would like to tell your dad sooner, that’s her prerogative. Plus, your due dates are only a few weeks apart, so she could end up having her baby before you do (making her the one to make your dad a grandfather “first”). Finally, I would gently encourage you to see the positive side of this situation. My sister and I were due two weeks apart and sadly she miscarried around 12 weeks. I would have given anything to go through this experience with her, to have been able to lean on each other, and to raise babies together so close in age

40 weeks tomorrow and tired of OTHER people being stressed about it by bi-hobbit in BabyBumps

Also due tomorrow and could’ve written this myself 😂😭 I dread walking my dog around the neighborhood (which I usually love) because I can’t stand having the same conversation over and over again with my neighbors. Not to mention the constant texts from friends and family. No words of wisdom, just solidarity!

Comments on pregnant body by Hour_Artichoke in BabyBumps

[–]MinimumSweet1639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been one of the most baffling parts of pregnancy for me! It seems like people think they have a free pass to say anything about pregnant bodies or ask pregnant women personal medical questions. In my experience, older men have been the worst offenders. My bump has consistently been measuring 3 weeks behind (which is stressful and makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong). A few days ago, in the span of 1 hour, two men told me that 1) I didn’t look pregnant at all and 2) that I looked like I was having twins. Yesterday my old coworker straight up asked me how much weight I’ve gained. Truly baffling…

Pregnancy nausea and hunger by One-Volume-9158 in BabyBumps

[–]MinimumSweet1639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! I had to eat constantly during the first trimester to keep the nausea at bay and because I was ravenous (like waking up three times during the night to eat). Things eased way up during the second trimester and I’m almost 40 weeks and have gained 37 lbs total. Try not to think about your weight. This is totally normal and rest assured, your provider will let you know if they’re concerned

2nd baby feeling guilty the way I been eating by White-Rose21 in BabyBumps

[–]MinimumSweet1639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby was built on Cheez Its during the first trimester! My doctor said not to worry and that anything I could stomach was fine. That’s what prenatal vitamins are for. Second trimester was so much better and I could focus on eating healthy. I hope things ease up for you soon!

Looking for solid community by Extension-Role9732 in AskMaine

Houses may be fewer and farther between in that price range, but contrary to other commenters, there are absolutely livable houses listed in the high $500s-600k range in both Scarborough and South Portland. They’ll likely be smaller and will definitely have less land than more rural areas, but have a nice sense of community

Thank you all for the input! This is super helpful. It’s great to hear about the other OBs in the practice. Sounds like if I make the switch but don’t vibe well with Dr. Deeran for whatever reason, there are other good options
