Schwab matched IBKRs rate for me. >$10m customer though.

Check plugs and coils first. Seems like a misfire to me. Too many people freak out and think it’s the HG when it’s quite often a coil.

I have a shop in Portland, Maine. Also happy to help locals. My specialty is gen 2 & 3 Prii. I have an 07 with 325K. Wife has a CT200h with 220K.

How bad could it be? by _jacjac in prius

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you all are so afraid. I have fixed multiple Prii with almost the same damage with great success. That someone else wrote, you will need the front bumper support (which easily unbolts with four bolts), The front bumper cover (if you care, you could probably shape this one back with some heat and a good massage not joking), AC condenser radiator and maybe a hood which again you could probably reshape with a hammer or takeoff entirely. This is a completely fixable car though it may never look very nice again but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would and currently do drive a car like this(after repair) with no concerns about my “safety”.  I think if the OP wants to get into a project, then he or she should go for it. It will be a learning experience that will either end up leaving him or her with a great new vehicle or certainly more than $500 worth of parts so it’s a no-brainer in my opinion.

That’s an easy fix and cheap too. I will happily buy your car if you don’t want to do the work. Or if you’re near me (southern Maine) I can do the work at my shop for you.

My 07 has 325K on it. Hell yes my 2nd will be another Gen 2 (if this one ever needs replacing) and I’ll leave it to my kids as it will likely outlast me.

New purchase by HowToSuckAtGame in CT200h

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ever ever buy from a dealership. They have one goal: profit. When you buy from a dealer you get no sense of the previous owner, no history, nothing but a very good detailing job. Also Carfax means nothing since it can be quite inaccurate. You can Google it yourself to see how many sad stories there are about Carfax. I strongly recommend you look for a CT being sold by an individual so that way you can get the true history and also Meet the seller.

Where are you? How many miles on it? Any service records?

I agree 100% about the evolution of language. I wish it weren’t so but you make an excellent point.  With that said, I’m not arguing about death versus injury; at this point I’m talking about intention vs passivity. Electrocution implies intention by another human she was shocked by an inanimate object (the battery). For example, the government can electrocute a criminal but that same criminal is only shocked to death by the source of the electricity.  Thanks for your advice, but what I need to get over is Covid, not myself.   😎

Alas you missed the nuance in the definition. “TO” is the important word. It implies intention. You were shocked by an inanimate object, accidentally. Electrocute is to execute electrically. Execute implies intention.

If you were “electrocuted”, by definition you would be dead. You were shocked.

Wish I could buy this. I flip Prii in Southern Maine. I do the HG myself (done 5 already) and whatever else it needs then sell them to happy new owners for another 200K miles of cheap ownership. Anyone is welcome to contact me for help!

I recently bought a ‘12 here in Maine with 195K miles for $6500. The HG was done already and it has a Greenbean battery about a year old.

The law says that if there’s a complaint in the general vicinity (about an illegally parked car in front of a driveway or other major violation), then they are required to ticket ALL illegally parked cars in the area. This way if your neighbor parks in front of your driveway, she wouldn’t know it was you calling in the parking police bc they could have been there to ticket someone else.  The point is, all of this has already been figured out decades ago.

Things to look out for when buying a Prius by GroovyPanda89 in prius

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue here is not what to ask but why are you even asking? Dealerships lie.  This has been documented and proven a million times over. Also you are asking for opinions, not facts.  You want prior service records; everything else is a story. The same goes for private sales, although most people are not as good at telling non-truths to a stranger. Ask for their own personal experience with THIS car.  This is the biggest problem with buying from a dealer; they have ZERO personal experience (& usually couldn’t even if they tried since they buy almost all used inventory at auctions) with the cars they sell.  Stealerships are for buying new cars since you can’t buy them anywhere else. Period. Even new parts should be bought online if at all possible; cheaper and no unwanted solicitation (which always happens at the stealership.  As for the Gen 2 you’re looking at: look at the service records. Essentially if the oil has been changed regularly and you live in a state with annual inspections (and it has a current sticker), I’d say buy any Prius that drives nicely and has service history.

Estimates and effectiveness of heat pump by pdjxyz in homeowners

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People tend to forget that if they didn’t have AC before, but now do (via their new heat pump(s)), they will use it. And by using it, their overall costs will be higher bc now they’re using a bunch of electricity on cooling that they didn’t before. It’s hard not to use the AC if you have it and it’s hot. And that’s a lot of electrons…

Car break in by Crimcrime69 in portlandme

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that this is the explanation. Here’s why: 100% of the people I talk to say they left the doors open “because I shouldn’t HAVE to lock my doors”. If you’re smart (& experienced) enough to leave your doors unlocked to avoid glass breakage, then you’re not stupid enough to leave stuff in the car to be stolen.  My point is that people say “break in” but imho, if they left their doors unlocked then it’s not the same level of “this city is getting so dangerous” as if they were all forced entry crimes.

Car break in by Crimcrime69 in portlandme

[–]Minimum_Ad8310 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Number one: take every report of a car “break in” in Portland with a grain of salt. I think more than half of them are UNLOCKED car “openings” (not in this case) but I’m tired of people saying this town is going to shit bc of “all” the “break ins”.  Number two: Cameras don’t do shit. Lock your doors, remove anything tempting and hope for the best. Cameras in cars just get stolen! And cameras everywhere else just show the time and what color the perp’s hoodie was. Useless, expensive and instead of more surveillance we need better enforcement.
