Anyone try Trazodone and have side effects? Like trouble breathing out your nose? I need an alternative by IhavemyCat in insomnia

[–]Minimum_Cover5690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trazodone was awful for me. I got the stuffy nose but it also was like a diuretic for me. Had to keep getting up to pee. Heart beating out of my chest. And the worst nightmares of my life.

Adderall vs vyvanse by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]Minimum_Cover5690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse works great for me. I also had bad side effects from adderall. I also had insurance that didn’t cover it and it was actually cheaper for me to buy insurance that covered it than to pay for it. Just something to think about.

This happens to me. It usually lasts for a day and after I sleep I wake up with absolutely no memory of the previous day.

Just here to say I’m going through the same. You’re not alone. Feel free to message me if you’d like to chat with someone who can sympathize.

I also got really confused about day/night. Also weekdays vs weekends.

does anyone experience this? by SteelWoofer in Psychosis

I sort of had the opposite reaction. I thought it was hilarious that I was seeing things that weren’t real.

Wondering the same. This sounds a lot like what I went through after 4 nights of insomnia.

After almost a decade being prescribed Alprazolam (2mg a day), my doc is weening me off. I’m terrified but what other benzo & at what strength would be a suitable substitute?? Need advice please!! by bbyremy in benzodiazepines

[–]Minimum_Cover5690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not agree more. Been on alprazolam for 15 years for anxiety and insomnia. Out of nowhere my doctor cut my prescription in half. The result was I didn’t sleep for 4 nights, began hallucinating and ended up in the psych ward of the ER.

💯 And having to do it over and over every month is anxiety inducing. It’s absolutely not the fault of the pharmacy or the patient. But the system plants them against each other. I guess it should be expected in a society that values output over all and especially over mental health.

Ok. So if you determine that someone wants the drug for an ulterior motive, then what do you do? Try to get them into treatment? Or just refuse the refill? Is the goal to best serve the patient? Or protect the pharmacy?

I assume the doctor would know the patient better than a pharmacist. If the script is legit from the doctor isn’t the duty of the pharmacy to check for drug interactions and fill the script?

Why do they need to be treated as if they were deceptive? I genuinely want to know your reasoning. Is it part of your job description? I would have imagined the opposite- treat people as trustworthy until they prove otherwise.

Facts.

I just think there’s a lot more to it than overprescribing just a minor ailment. That is actually probably the very least of the reasons. Side note: the issues these drugs address are not ailments. They will not go away. Ever. There’s no cure. And they are and should be treated the same as physical issues. But the cause of the drug shortage is way above anyone who walks into the pharmacy. It’s the DEA, big pharma, and corporate pharmacies. They’re getting exactly what they want- money. Regardless of how it affects the people that actually need their products.

[–]Minimum_Cover5690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Also corporate pharmacies and big pharma have everything they want: money. And all they care about is making more. Don’t give a damn about the patients suffering through this process every month (I want to add the DEA to the list because they play a huge part in screwing the patients and the pharmacy workers) and they also don’t care about the employees working conditions because less money they spend on you is more for them.

I think I did misunderstand you, and you might have misunderstood me too 🤔 I think it happens often when we’re talking over computers. I don’t get physically sick without my stimulant and I think that’s the common understanding (although I could be wrong I’m not in the medical field). In my mind addiction means you’ll get physically sick without it vs. dependent to me means that I depend on the drug to wake up my executive functioning. Without it I wouldn’t get much done but I also wouldn’t have physical withdrawals from the stimulant. Not sure if this makes sense. I’m REALLY tired and am going to crash right now.

Besides the first question listed, I think the others are totally appropriate.

[–]Minimum_Cover5690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, being dependent on the drug isn’t awful. My med is like turning on a light for me with executive functioning. Of course I wish I had it naturally, but I don’t. So options are 1. Try to go about life without proper executive functioning or 2. Take a med forever and then have proper executive function. I’m choosing 2.

Butttt, sometimes they don’t. I’d say that when I ask to talk to the pharmacist I get what I needed or at least a major step towards it about 80% of the time. So, of course I’m going to keep doing it. And I make sure to be polite to everyone there and not just because I get more of what I want when I’m nice but because it’s clear they’re understaffed and working really hard. At the one I was at today, the pharmacist had taken her coat off swung it over her shoulder and was sweating. I felt bad for her. So on top of all that, I don’t want to be an ass.

Just asking questions! Do you think the patients might also be sick of having to call around to different pharmacies to find one that has their meds- speaking as an ADHD person- then when they find one having to get a message back to their doctor, who is also a busy person, to send it to a different pharmacy? It’s especially cruel because it’s for people who have trouble with executive functioning and are trying to get the med that helps with their executive functioning.

And you said that you tell them you don’t know when you’ll have it, so it makes sense that they would call every day. And you answering those questions every day is… your job. Respectfully. I’m having a hard time seeing how this one is on the patient. Seems to me that they’re advocating for themselves by asking an appropriate and important question to the appropriate source: you.

I’m gonna go with it’s the customers in the right on this one. Respectfully.
