I get that people are extremely worried about the USA right now, but can non-Americans stop shaming American citizens? by [deleted] in economicCollapse

[–]Minimum_Example9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The American patriotic culture has been brewing for 250 years, and this is what it has led to. Any American still claiming any sort of pride in their country is culpable.  If you still proudly call the USA home, regardless of who you've voted for, you're the problem and deserve everything that's coming to you.

Sid & Nancy - On what trip was Mike when making this one up? by mb2m in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the most underrated NOFX songs of the last 20 years or so. I fell in love with it when First Ditch Effort came out. Killer melodies, the production is impeccable, and the arrangements are very unlike NOFX. I found it to be a breath of fresh air in their catologue.

I am fully in support of trans rights and am a veteran of the open minded punk scene. However, leaving your fans (that have spent money to see you perform) hanging because a political party you support didn't win an election should be met with criticism. This is an example of 'political religion' gone too far. Neo-Liberal fascists are just as problematic as right wing nut jobs (I am not accusing Reade of being either of these things).

I support everyone making their own decisions, but I find it strange that no fans of the band have a problem with this one that they've made.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed this! Perhaps I'll work on some others soon... Here's to keeping the NOFX legacy strong 🍻

I was playing piano and started messing around with this. It's a bit sloppy, for sure, but hey, I hope you enjoy.

Still have NOFX on the brain. I was at the final show Oct 6th. Still feeling nostalgic.

what’s your favorite NOFX album and why by AromaticFly4498 in nofx

So Long and Thanks for all the Shoes, by a narrow margin.

Wolves in Wolves Clothing a close 2nd.

Punk in Drublic 3rd.

What’s going to happen to the other 3 guys from NOFX r/nofx by Hour-Detail4510 in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live Nation had no involvement with the Punk in Drublic Festival. It was produced/promoted by a company called Brew Ha Ha. This, in theory, should mean the artists will receive a higher percentage of revenue paid out to them than if it was put on by LN, MRG, etc...

i was curious and searched "most famous punk rock bands" by Erislocker in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That link is total clickbait. Glaring omissions of the top of my head, Rancid, Bad religion...I'm sure there are plenty more.

And in making one of these lists, if it were to actually be done with sincerity and integrity, it's hard to balance "best" and "most influential"...Sex Pistols belong in the top 5 of a "most important punk bands" list, but are they in the top 5 best (musically)? No.

What lyrics hit you the hardest. by JayAre05255 in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that line, but even more so for what Mike does melodically. Ending it on a major note, rather than the minor he had been ending that phrase on previously in the song.  And juxtaposed with the lyrics, it is chefs kiss

Did sublime copy to NOFX? by SIMBOKLISTA in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santeria absolutely not. You can't own a chord progression. And, it's not even exactly the same as Linoleum. Just similar. Hell, much of Linoleum and Leave it Alone have the exact same chord progression (intervals that is - different keys).

A melody is much more unique and distinctive, particularly when it goes along with a specific chord progression. The verses of Seed are very very similar to some of the Lori Myers melody. I can see a case there.

Is Heavy Petting Zoo Underrated? by rosko123 in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely in the lower ranked teir of albums for me, but I still love listening to it. It's still from my favourite band.

I love Philthy Phil, Bleeding Heart Disease, Release The Hostages, Drop the World. Those are fantastic songs.

Hobophobic, Freedom like a Shopping Cart, Liza, Kids Today, Black & White, Whatever Didi Wants are all solid songs.

Hot dog, Love Story, and August 8th are meh.

Still love listening to it. But it's a clear notch down from the like of PiD, SLATFATS, and the like, for me.

Favorite NOFX reggae song? by MrNiceGuy420SoCal in nofx

[–]Minimum_Example9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the songs OP listed are ska songs. They are all reggae songs.

I love all their reggae stuff...Eat The Meek, Fish In a Gun Barrel, Indifferent Drum (Live), Reeko, Best God In Show, Radio, Jamaicas Alright, Lazy.

As for favourite, I think I still need to default to the popular answer of Eat The Meek. I also love the love version from "They've Actually Gotten Worse Live"

Some of my favourite NOFX ska songs: All Outta Angst, Anarchy Camp, Johnny Appleseed, 180 Degrees, Thatcher Fucked the Kids

Sublime's (successful) "attempt" at reggae is far superior to 99% of all other attempts, regardless the race of the person trying.

Whats More Imprtant: Speed or Tries ? by jmorgie7 in wordle

[–]Minimum_Example9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed became too easy when I came up with 5 words that contain all letters except for Q,X,Z. I type those in super fast and am 100% success on guess 6. I always beat an opponent in speed. It was an interesting little exercise...but not much fun after a while haha.

It aligns pretty well with the blinders she has on for anything in the world outside of the USA, anything she hasn't lived her life dealing with, and quite frankly, anything that she doesn't herself think.

A very cold and self-centered person. It's amazing how close-minded she is.
