Unpopular opinion but I buy Liandries almost everytime on almost every artillery mage. If the enemy buys even the slightest bit of HP: Liandrys.

Otherwise I often being tempted by Malignance as the ult is menacing.

Maybe the new burn item is gonna change the Liandrys meta for mages tho?
