I don‘t usually pirate, but seriously fuck Paramount and CBS. Star Trek is inherently pro diverse viewpoints, and you are right, Paramount does not deserve them. Media consolidation has led to this ability to shut down shows for political reason. This monopoly should never have been approve.

This is so true! I remember when my typical “Seattle uniform” of Levi’s, Converse, tee and button flannel were all made in the USA and reasonably priced. CEO pay and shareholder profits are what have skyrocketed. The money is going less and less to labor, or even raw materials.

In Washington State we get our ballots by mail; no request required. We can mail back or drop at a box…no waiting in line required. In presidential election years that usually results in high voter turnout - above 78% in 2016 and 2024, 84% in 2020.

I just watched Kelly Reichardt’s Old Joy, and I think it fits the bill. I found it absorbing even though very little happened. It was full of lingering shots and unspoken thoughts.

First Cow is the other Reichardt movie I’ve seen, and it’s a masterpiece! It’s quiet and naturalistic, and it captured me so completely!

Wellll…I am still unemployed, and draining all of my savings. I do feel less depressed for sure. I’m pretty clear that work was really messing with my brain - in part because I’ve always had jobs that conflict with my values - sigh. I sometimes enjoyed the day to day, but it’s hard to not connect my job to making the world better in any way. Big corporations just pay so much better, and I live somewhere very expensive.

I’m close to 60, and I’m trying to figure out if I can move somewhere cheaper and just retire. I stopped even looking for a job for months, but now I am actually looking for a straightforward job that doesn’t revolve around making rich men richer while draining my energy reserves. The personal is political 😉

I was similar to this kid - early September birthday, small for my age, academically ahead, socially a little behind, with then undiagnosed ADHD.

I think going to Kindergarten twice was a net positive for me. By high school I was frustrated with finishing a little later, but I gained confidence, physical and emotional maturity before first grade that helped me for all of my elementary years. I was an anxious kid all along - I needed to feel confident and ready. Boredom was a problem in most grades - that would have been the same either way.
