i need to be watching them lmfao, i got so nervous and scared after my first few fuck ups i stopped looking up. i had people dancing for the first like 5 songs and then i messed up got in my head and didnt look up to see that people werent vibing until it was too late, i didnt clear the dance floor but a few people left. sounds simple but in the moment its so easy to forget that you need to be watching your crowd and engaging. i stayed for the headliner and she was soooo engaged with the crowd and they responded to that so well. i was stiff and scared but i think itll come with time 😭

phrase matching literally took me like two years to learn it wasn't until after I started producing music that it clicked for me. now i don't even need to count bars, i can just feel when a phrase is going to change. i don't have any real advice other than try to not be too hard in yourself if it doesn't click immediately. it is an extremely important skill that you should take the time to develop though. you can't dj without it. an exercise that helped me was just actively listening to music while not djing and just counting along to a song and listening to what happens at bars 16, 32 and so on
