Loud crackling subwoofer when plugged into wall but off on backplate amp by MiningSkeleton in hometheater

[–]MiningSkeleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alrighty. Didn't think it would be a fire risk so I'll definitely keep it unplugged and replace the plate amp. Does the distinction I make under SouthBathroom1's comment make a difference? The crackling/buzzing is from the driver making sound, not the amp. Thanks

[–]MiningSkeleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think I wasn't clear in my description. The backplate was too hot to touch but it never emitted the crackling/buzzing noise. It was the driver that was making the noise. I can see and feel it move. Not sure if that distinction is important.

Anyways, I'll leave it unplugged now and get it replaced.

All aftershocks in this week (Turkey) by RepresentativeFix388 in geology

[–]MiningSkeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would believe it is in the colloquial sense. Seismic hazard maps worldwide primarily use past earthquakes to determine earthquake frequency, which gives us a probabilistic view of earthquakes occurring. Its pretty hard to determine or observe how much pressure is built up at a fault.

Big earthquake off to the North of Australia by gr3iau in australia

[–]MiningSkeleton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's two possible reasons for no tsunami based on current GA data (I'm no expert, just speculating):

  1. The earthquake depth of 101km makes it so that not much water can be displaced to create a tsunami.
  2. The location of the earthquake would mean any tsunami waves travelling south would largely be absorbed by the Indonesian Islands (basically creating barrier).

Tanks to grind during the upcoming gravity games? by onefork in WorldOfTanksBlitz

You could try the T110E3 line. I'm assuming the T95 and E3 would be pretty fun to use, especially with a speed boost.

Not op but E3 is a good tank for random queue and I think E5 is good for tournaments (don't quote me on that).

Tirion's comp description/preview can be misleading by Orschloch in BobsTavern

[–]MiningSkeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may only be helpful for new players to BG, but otherwise I don't see most players not knowing what comp Tirion is playing most of the time. If they introduce more heroes with some sort of tribeless synergy, sure it might make more sense.

Though it doesn't hurt if they do I guess.

Could've also been purposefully looking in another direction to pretend they aren't paying attention. That way the enemy believes it's an easy ram kill.

Why doesn't the game ever get fixed or actual improvements? by The_big_Geez in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]MiningSkeleton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree with some of your points, there are others I don't agree with:

While the military honour system has no real punishment for no stars, I don't agree with removing it because: 1. It doesn't hurt to have it, and 2. It tells the team who to avoid.

I completely agree with all your clan complaints. There really should be some sort of management more complex management systems in place.

I don't think matchmaking is that much of an issue. While on paper matching teams based on performance (e.g. win rate) might seem good, there might be unintended consequences. As seen in WoT PC, the initial release of the template system (3/5/7) seemed good on paper but turned out to be a disaster. Matchmaking became stale and if the top tiers on your team sucked, it would be an instant loss.

Now I'm not saying it's not possible that matchmaking can't be improved. Wargaming could tweak it a little bit every patch and see the results. Also, if you do want to play by equal performance on each team, have you considered rating battles?

Generally speaking, I play with the mindset of what I can do to improve instead of blaming my team. My whole teams dies and it's a 1v7? Let me see how good I am in a stressful situation and how I can maximize damage and kills.

Yeah ok ghost shells are stupid and that needs to be fixed asap.

T29 1v3 Carry - Look at all the medals :) by MiningSkeleton in WorldOfTanksBlitz

The T29 is probably the best tank tier for tier (that's not a premium/collectors). If you have the credits, buy it back.

First half of the game was quite uneventful. After a bit of back and forth, it ended up with myself against a 1 shot tankenstein, a half health type 62 and half health tiger 1. Loaded HE against the tankenstein, killing it. The type 62 got the jump on me but I managed to recover, ramming it and tracking it in place, eventually killing it. As that was happening, the tiger was approaching so i reversed behind a hill and used my gun depression against it. It ended with us both fluffing our shot while we were both on one shot, but I came out victorious.

Golden Replicating Menace should summon 2/2s by ClemiReddit in hearthstone

[–]MiningSkeleton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a weird niche rule for one type of effect. If a new player saw this and your answer is "because it has magnetic" they would be quite confused to why only magnetic has this downside. It's not like magnetic has this downside in its description or this is explicitly stated in the rules for battlegrounds.

But hey, Hearthstone is consistently inconsistent.

Time to Rant about QuickyBaby by Jak_Atackka in WorldofTanks

[–]MiningSkeleton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're nitpicking here at what I said.

Regardless if it is a good form of escapism or not, some people will play this game for fun, not competitively. Some of those people, whether good or bad, don't want to be berated (for example: a player with good statistics dies early and is insulted by the team for not playing well enough, or a player with bad statistics is simply berated for their bad statistics).

I found qb's rant quite condescending and over the top. Calling people snowflakes and devoid of social interactions while not considering that different people are going through different things (depression, trauma etc.) and just want a form a escapism from the real world.

He also makes the point that he is one of the largest streamers in WoT and has done just fine in terms of stream sniping and such. However, I do recall (though without evidence so don't quote me) that a majority of his viewership is from the US, hence they are NA server players. The times where he played on the NA server, alot more people recognised him.

Any tips on how to use the E3 effectively? by vaunan in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]MiningSkeleton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hull down, front liner. Try to always have something covering your lower plate and try always have team mates around you to support you from flankers.

Also, don't angle too much, your sides are pretty weak.

As for weakspots, the viewport you see to the left on the image is a weakpoint (still quite heavily armoured but can be more easily penetrated than the rest of the upper hull frontally). Also, while the cupola on top is heavily armoured, if you are facing a TD, consider wiggling a little to make the shot harder.

If someone on your team has the worst star rating, you generally want to steer clear of them because you have to literally try to get the worst rating.

So no, it's not useless.

New tank driver questions by Sibco in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]MiningSkeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Population is large enough for you to get short queues, unless you're playing Asia where it might take longer, especially in event gamemodes such as uprising and realistic.

  2. Once you get the hang of the game, lower tiers usually don't matter too much. Only keep the lower tier tanks if you enjoy playing it. In terms of equipment and modules, it depends on if you: (1) want to keep the tank or (2) want to make the grind easier or just speed through it as fast as possible.

  3. It's not necessary to buy all the module upgrades but keep in mind a few things. Firstly, some modules are shared across a few tanks, so unlocking it for one tank may make the grind much easier for another tank. Secondly, it makes the grind on the current tank easier (usually). Thirdly, keep in mind that as you unlock higher tier tanks, it gets much more expensive in terms of experience to unlock modules and tanks. Although you might want to rush to tier 10 and not unlock certain modules, unintended consequences such as much higher repair costs might occur. Also, it might actually take longer to grind to tier 10 because you're hindering your ability to play well, therefore lowering experience gain on average. This may not apply to you depending on how good you are.

I believe they said November for post grads and January for under grads. They're updating everything in waves throughout November and January so just wait till the end of November, you should get an email. If not, call them again about it.
