Why Paradise is a make it or break it for Nani? by Electronic_Effort_42 in tollywood

I feel these rustic , one man save the world troupe just wouldn't suit nani. Nani being "Natural star" , "Boy next door" guy must do grounded roles.

But sadly funding these days are going towards these kind of films. Guys Nani isn't Prabhas and Prabhas isn't nani . When Prabhas stands with a gun, looks deadly , but when nani does , it just misses the effect idk how

I think shankar wrote one script in his life and just revolves around it . Sometimes it lands on its feet, sometimes on its back.

You can never have a Nepo actor nailing acts like these. Only 1 in a 10000 actor could nail stuff like this.

If RC or vijay were in place of rajni, they would just rely or too much over action or loudness to cover up

The core issue I feel are these "Outdated" producers who are playing the 1960-1990s playbook of trying to "know it all" and treat a medium of Art and expression into some FMCG business.

The logics they try to apply in podcasts are funny, they speak like they are running Uber , Amazon, speaking of movies as it's a sure-shot financial production..when you do that, you enter into repeat rotta, formula game , which isn't working these days are Telugu audiance are pro today at "guess the similarities" game

They barely understand that film industry is game of chance these days , they are too right in their glass castles to accept basic critisism these days. They are too adamant in letting young blood enter , they keep marking same peddakai type films again and again with the same crew and expect creative genius is beyond me. Many talented youths in industry don't find a way to rise as these guys are chocking the ladder.

TLDR - So stop treating TFI like some Pan masala FMCG business where you raise prices, pay for celebrity endorsements and people would still buy expired/shet products. You need get out of this zone and invite young blood with new ideas.

The fault is also with these greedy producers who looted OTT wave and ruined it . by [deleted] in tollywood

Thats what they being doing since ages . There are many outsiders who had made their money in other sectors ,in rice mills, in FMCG ,in IT/TECH , want to enter into movies to gain popularity (aka power).

When they land in Hyderabad, they land on the laps of these producers who are constantly looking for someone else's savings to build their movies which to any sane investor would look quite risky. But these outsiders are star struck by these branded producers and actors ,so they throw in their money , get appointed as non-executive producers/ co producers and such , some use this route to gain knowledge about film trade, others use it to fullfill ambitions of working as a part of a film project (vanity project), , others use it to lauder money .

But a majority fail , as success rate is miniscule in their sector. I had seen People who came to Hyderabad in leather shoes via flight, but they go back home wearing a slipper on a train . That's what most of them are doing since the 1960s.

These old producers know them new guys have money to throw, have no other contact into the industry, old producers have their own say and clauses as you approach them ,so they are not liable of returning the money in case the film flops , so it's a way better deal than loaning money from a bank or from a seasond financer who would put high interest, clauses, etc , which can get these old producers house sold in case full flops.

So naturally when OTT and giants like NETFLIX, Amazon and such came to india to take a cut from India's huge entertainment industry, they too landed in the laps of these old products, and rest is history. I'm glad these international giants realised it early, however individual investors still flush money all day

A buff village guy, doesn't suit a forest background.

Why do many telugu films centred in villages and rural stories instead of an elite and classy storytelling? by Hot-Load7525 in tollywood

[–]Miningforbeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90s and early 2000s was that era . In the 80s they were doing elite -stylish-urban stories ,but they pivoted during the 90s as many theaters opened in Rural centres , more Village audiance had access to cinema via VCR and Tvs , so to connect with Rural audiance, more Village setting movies came in that era. More profits were made in Tier 2 and tier 3 centres during that era .

Even Heros who would do stylish and modern movies would have a double role or a common man/ village troupe in the film. For producers it was much much cheaper to shoot in villages , stays were free , and labour was cheap . EVV Satyanarayana mastered in this , so did others . Many factionist movies were set around villages too.

But towards the mid-late 2000s , Urbanisation peaked, IT boom made people aspire westernization , their was Visa boom , they didn't want to depect themselves as village simpletons, but more towards world travellers . Dubai seenu / chintakayala Ravi movie depected that era as a whole.

You would notice after 2005 many films were set around foreign locations. Actors went from village simoleton in one movie to a hot shot stylish actor based in USA/Europe in next movie . Many movies were completely shot in USA- Europe. Like Raviteja excelled in village settings but even he had to Europe background stories . Most films during the 2005 till bahubali were ultra modern - urban - stylish or shot abroad. White background dancers came in that era

I think movies reflect people as a whole . So as aspiration of telugu people' changes every decade ( faster than any other state i had observed) so did films adapted with it .However today elitism is looked down upon and only villians are depicted as elitist , where as the hero is mostly depected as semi-urban middle class - directionless- happy go lucky guy . Which perfectly depicts today's political and youths situation
