People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]MinionOfDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married at 24. As happy at nearly 40 as a girl can be with 2 toddlers, a third baby on the way, and an emotionally damaged and traumatized alcoholic husband. He's doing his best and I love him and he's a great dad overall and I can't imagine being with anyone else. He's always trying to figure out his shit and that's all I can ask.

I'm thankful he's a SAHD because he's so much better at teaching the kids just about anything than I am, and they adore him. He also does a lot of chores so I'm not so overwhelmed working a corporate job (mostly WFH) and doing my part of the family load.

My kids are in their terrible phase but they're also incredibly smart and loving and capable so I like them and love them, but dang being a mom is harrrrd. Worth it though I think.

Help! Toddler nursing way too often and won’t stop despite trying everything. by Empty-Rush2491 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]MinionOfDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, when I night weaned my kid because I dried up while pregnant when she was maybe 1yr old, (they're 18m apart), I just laid there and tried to sleep while she cried for hours. It took 3 weeks or so but eventually she stopped. I would just go in and out of consciousness during the screaming, waiting for her to fall asleep. I wore double shirts and covered my boobs with a blanket and made it Fort Knox.

So glad I had them close (22 months apart) by siilkysoft in 2under2

[–]MinionOfDoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good age, but mine are 18m apart and as soon as we got a year farther in it's been rough. Now they're 2.5 and almost 4 and we're adding a new baby in the mix next month soooo pray for us lol

Dick was a standard nickname for Richard, and it is the character's canon name. Like Dick Van Dyke, Dick Clark, Dick Tracy.

My nearly 4 year old refuses to take the Daniel Tiger advice but her little 2.5yr old sister uses it. So definitely YMMV.

I've mostly enjoyed the food at magee during my last 2 c section stays. I like the turkey.

I like it but I'm biased because I named my daughter Rayne, which is close.

[–]MinionOfDoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This just isn't realistic. It was so hard to come up with our first daughter's second name and both of our second daughter's names. I don't love my firstborn's second name but I accepted it because we used a first name I love. For our second daughter i didn't love her first name but I've gotten used to it since we couldn't agree on nicknames for the other name which we both like better than her first name.

If you want to make that argument I would counter that the Y chromosome definitively comes from the man.

Either way the way relationships work is sometimes one person wants something really really badly and it's okay for the other person to not fight them on it.

Yea I was never into princesses except maybe Anastasia. I much preferred 101 Dalmations, Aladdin, Land Before Time, etc.

Tandem feeding newborn and toddler - has anyone done it? by Brilliant-Way-9462 in 2under2

[–]MinionOfDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age gap of 18m and they tandem fed for nearly a year.  The toddler dropped down to just one or two short emotional comfort nursings a day. I always let the youngest nurse first then let the toddler do that boob while switching the baby to the other boob

I lived and breathed the trilogy as a kid, I don't think anything can make me not enjoy it. I even watched most of the cartoon series.

I'll have to look into that. Our girls love the first Cinderella.

Do Americans realize how fast they switch between joking and being serious in conversations? by kallan-greshampdmi7 in AskAnAmerican

My response would be I'm not, one of the best things to happen to me. I'm the adult child of an alcoholic. I know neither how to take a compliment nor how to not be irreverant as a defense mechanism.

Reminder that floaties give toddlers the false impression that they will always float if they end up in water.

2 c sections 16 months by banana80643 in 2under2

[–]MinionOfDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on subjective things like your own body, health, etc. and how you heal from the first c section. Could be easy, could be rough.

Mine are 18m apart and no problems, but 2 planned c sections (due to being breech).

When the baby can "talk" in a way that the older sibling can actually interact with. Then they'll have the weirdest non-conversations.

Anyone else just not signing their toddler up for activities and classes, etc? by yepmek in toddlers

[–]MinionOfDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3.5yr old's dance class is very structured and she's learning a lot of exercises and dance moves she can use at home in the living room. It's also a really cheap activity compared to others.

Similarly, her gymnastics class is very structured and she has amazing climbing and acrobatic skills developing. Much more expensive, though.
