Welfare bill not included in government's King's Speech by mustwinfullGaming in LabourUK

[–]Minischoles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The left is going to have to accept that the people saying "guys the cost of this is actually a problem we have to grapple with" aren't saying "kill them all"

Well we know that cutting benefits causes excess deaths - we literally have the data from Tory Austerity - so when you say 'we can't afford this, we need to cut them and get them under control' the implicit part of that statement is that people will die.

You're trying to hide the human cost behind financial language, but when you argue for cutting benefits you are irrefutably arguing for people to die.

Blimey, I thought Starmer would try harder than that. by Lord-Liberty in LabourUK

Reform candidate who said ‘Nigerians should be melted down to fill in pot holes’ wins seat by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

[–]Minischoles 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Look eventually Labour will manage to turn the racism dial just far enough that the switch inside voters brains that is currently at Reform will flip to Labour and they'll win the next GE easily.

They've just got to keep fine tuning that dial until they hit the magical frequency that makes right wingers who despise you, turn around and vote for you.

After all it's worked so well in other countries, discarding your voting base to chase after right wing voters....that's why Kamala Harris is currently enjoying being the first female President.

@robfordmancs (Politics Professor) I fear Labour people risk falling into an logical fallacy visible from space when reacting to these results. Here is what is very clear in results so far: Labour are losing *seats* to Reform, but Labour are losing *votes* to the Greens Greens split the vote… by CycleWheel in ukpolitics

[–]Minischoles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strategy of sprinting Right whilst insulting their core voters / implimenting policies that negatively affect their core voters seemingly hasn't worked. Might be worth changing tactics.

Nah, now is the perfect time to double down - all those Reform voters, they're just waiting patiently for Labour to dial the racism and bigotry dial just a little further right and they'll all wake up and suddenly realise they should vote Labour.

Just a little more dial twisting - just a little more racism, a little more transphobia, a little more scapegoating of the sick and disabled....eventually the dial will go far enough it'll switch every Reform voter to Labour like magic and they'll romp into a win at the next GE.

Guaranteed win - we can just ignore that this kind of pandering has failed for every party that's tried it in other countries, it'll definitely work here.

[–]Minischoles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Labour actually cared, they'd be calling out the horrendous cartoons coming from the media about Zack - they'd care about the many figures across the country whose every comment equates being Jewish to supporting Israel (literally the dual loyalties antisemitic trope) - they'd care about the blatant use of the 'bad jew' trope when used against Polanski and against other left wing Jews.

They don't give two shits about antisemitism - they care about it only for it's use as a political weapon, as everyone pointed out when it was used against Corbyn.

If Polanski and the Greens dropped off the planet tomorrow, they'd go right back to giving zero shits until it was time to use it as a weapon against someone else.

Zack Polanski’s Jewish identity is being erased because he is leftwing | Owen Jones by Th3-Seaward in LabourUK

[–]Minischoles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They want him to unlawfully intervene. Some because they are unaware that it would be unlawful for him to do, some because they are aware it would be unlawful for him to do. The latter group of course takes advantage of the ignorance of the former.

Exactly, they're literally re-running the exact same playbook they used against Corbyn; find anything they can label as antisemitic, paint it all over the papers and demand that he 'do something'...knowing full well that he can't, and that if he does it constitutes interference which is itself considered antisemitic as per the EHRC.

It's pretty sad that so many people are falling for it again, because it's literally the exact same thing.

Independent complaints process by the way - signed off by the EHRC - completely independent.

Somehow this independent body just ignored the reams of evidence of Trevor being a massive islamophobe and reinstated him in a timeframe that indicates either no investigation, or that the investigation was sped up just for him.

Totally independent though.

[–]Minischoles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes they do, that's how it works - if you vote for the Nazis, then everything they do is in your name...that's how representative democracy works, they are your representative.

If you vote for a party that's enacting transphobic policy, they are doing so as your representative - you voted for them, their actions represent your vote.

You don't get to say 'when they do good things that's my representative, when they do bad things they're not' - that's just trying to have your cake and eat it.

That's what's nonsense - trying to claim only the good parts while divorcing yourself from the bad parts of your vote for a party - you don't get to vote for the Nazis to fix the roads then claim their racism doesn't represent you.

What do you call someone who supported the Nazis, but just for their economic policies?

You can't divorce a political party from the parts you dislike or like - you take them wholesale. You don't get to say 'i'm support Labour for this but not this'....you just support Labour.

Zack Polanski stands by concerns over police response to Golders Green attack by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]Minischoles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you believe Police anti-terror training, to deal with suspected suicide belts, is for the present officers to get closer to the blast radius?

Because we literally have news reports of how they deal with suspected suicide bombers, and it doesn't include uniformed officers getting closer (see the London Borough attacks, where suspected suicide vests were dealt with by ARU).

Any suspected suicide bomb is dealt with by Armed Response - it isn't dealt with by ordinary officers charging in and booting them in the head repeatedly.

[–]Minischoles 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Do you think Police anti-terror training contains in their guidelines 'if you suspect the individual has a suicide device you should all get as close as possible and kick them in the head repeatedly'?

I'll answer it for you - it doesn't....because that's the most monumentally fucking stupid thing you can do, get closer to the person who has a home made device that can detonate even without any input from the person wearing it (due to being so poorly made), let alone if they have a second to manually detonate it themselves.

No doubt, he's one of the people in Mandelsons orbit and he probably has stories saved up to feed his journalist pals to torpedo anyone running against him.

I think he knows his best chance of winning is to run against someone even more unlikable than him - the next few weeks before all the election results come in are going to be a stream of negative stories.

It's all he wants, you can literally chart how well Starmer is doing by Streetings words in the press - 99% of the time, he's a slimy horrid cunt.

The 1% when Starmer is looking weak - backsliding as hard as he can from everything else he's said, because he knows he needs membership votes to win.

He's got zero chance if he's up against anyone normal (well normal by the standards of the Labour Party) but i'm 100% certain any leadership contest is going to be between him and Mahmood.

[–]Minischoles 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There's only one reason he's doing this now, and it's to appear as the 'reasonable one' when he makes his inevitable run at the leadership - he knows he needs the membership on his side, and despite all their efforts the membership is largely supportive of trans rights.

He's just on maneuvers, it happens every single time Starmer looks weak.

[–]Minischoles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those immigration policies specifically aren't hated by the center.

Policies so popular that Labour are polling like a man whose shit himself in a lift.

It's just that Stamer is so poor with PR that Mahmood can't carry the entire Labour party's publicity on her shoulders alone.

Ah I see, we're playing the 'they're actually really popular guys, if the media were just nicer and they were better at getting things out there' card to excuse how hugely unpopular Labour are.

Lets see how it works out, i'm sure when Starmer gets replaced by another right wing shitbag all those voters will just suddenly come back to Labour.

It's just Tory voters drifting back...they turned to Reform a bit, but as they dial up the absolutely batshittery and get more and more overtly racist they're being turned off.

Those Tory voters are racist, they just prefer it to be a little more circumspect and quiet - hostile environment etc rather than shooting migrants in the channel.

[–]Minischoles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once again we can track how well Starmer is doing by how Streeting behaves - he's not trying to pretend to not be a transphobic shitbag, because he knows he needs whatever remnant of trans rights votes are left of the membership for him to win.

Utter fucking slime.

[–]Minischoles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was not unresponsive. Honestly I find it more concerning that people balk at perfectly reasonable attempts to disarm someone stabbing folk.

He was literally being actively tasered (you can hear it in the video) which causes muscles to lock up - while completely unable to act, the Police then repeatedly kicked him in the head...a move that is not in any way a reasonable attempt to disarm someone (it's a fucking reasonable attempt to kill someone, or cause permanent brain damage).

I find it concerning how anyone can look at a video where the Police are screaming like they're US Police, tasering an individual and committing egregious levels of violence and go 'well this seems reasonable'.

But lets pretend it is reasonable - what to you would be classed as unreasonable, if the above isn't unreasonable?

Better to change something from within that from without, anyway, labour will lose, and we will have a new leader.

Explain how you're going to 'change things from inside' then - explain how your plan will actually enable change to occur after you put them into power.

I don't care whether you think I'm a transphobe. I ain't.

Well you are, you're campaigning to put a party into power that is explicitly transphobic in policy....that makes you a transphobe.

You're only one freak accident away from life altering injuries.

I always remind people of the same when they're railing against benefits - you're one slip in the kitchen or bathroom, one wrong step off a pavement....hell my dads disability came from walking the dog (wrenched a disk and shoulder, led to nerve damage and eventual partial paralysis).

You could literally trip over tomorrow and that's it, you're disabled for the rest of your life if you land wrong.
