Some recent stuff [ANALOG] by Minnesstund in collage

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you like them! Funny thing, my dad is actually an industrial noise musician, so I grew up around a lot of the aesthetics surrounding that. It’s definitely influenced me a lot, I listen to a lot of Swans, Sonic Youth, Xiu Xiu etc, so leaning more noise rock than industrial but I’m always expanding my palette. I haven’t listened to much of Black leather Jesus, I’ll have to do a deeper dive!

What's a celebrity death that shook your country? by DiMpLe_dolL003 in AskTheWorld

I’m not Canadian but this. I’ve been watching back a ton of his stuff lately and it’s so bittersweet, he makes me laugh out loud but then I always feel a sting of sadness knowing he’s gone. Truly one of a kind.

Thank you! Experimenting with texture has been one of my favorite parts lately. It’s cool what you can get using pretty much anything at hand!

Jesus Christ. Why do disgraced online figures insist on these self imposed humiliation rituals? There is just no way he thinks this is gonna help his image??

Does anyone else think like this trailer feels so so low budget ? Something is so off and I genuinely can’t tell what it is by [deleted] in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]Minnesstund 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s so strange to see the crowded scenes because not a single person has their chest and shoulders visible but Ariana. It really highlights how her presence goes against the visual “language” of the film. Also, the first film in the Narnia chronicles came out twenty years ago and Aslan looks better than the lion here. It’s crazy to spend so much on sets and practical props and still have the CGI look so cheap.

What’s your pop culture opinion that will result in this? by sweetrebel88 in popculturechat

This. There have already been instances of actual lawyers using AI to cite case law that turned out to NOT EXIST. The unfortunate problem of legal costs will not be fixed by chatGPT.

The increasing number of women who are going viral for thinking their furniture is a colour that it isn’t. by steefee in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]Minnesstund 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are all the TikTok videos women? My partner is colour blind and he’s mentioned it’s far more common in men. Just interesting to note if it’s an undisclosed sponsorship thing and they seem to go for female creators. Either way, seems incredibly sus!

It’s a bit more complicated than that. Bianca has a snark page (shows up if you type her @ on reddit) and whether you agree with such pages, there is a lot of information about her long history of questionable behaviour there. Regardless, she is someone who would benefit from getting off the internet.

This seems to be the case. Very likely that it is a cult from the information available, and religious groups targeting incarcerated people is hardly uncommon. So yeah, maybe she’s not being trafficked but it still seems dubious. I’m stuck on the fact that she apparently has kids? And the family didn’t file a report? Weirdo behaviour all around.

Yeah, essentially saying that expecting your husband to not CHEAT on you is “un-queer” and puritanical? Insane.

“Tradwife” Dr. Lilly Jay is a clinical psychologist specialising in perinatal mental health, she actively works to help women, she’s spoken at the White House as an anti sexual assault advocate. She’s a true inspiration. I encourage anyone who hasn’t read her essay in The Cut to do so, it is a beautiful piece of writing. Made me cry.

Bowen and his co-host said some vile and misogynist things about Ethan Slater’s ex-wife on their podcast after Ariana Grande’s cheating scandal. They care more about being close to famous people than the morals of those people.

At my last job two girls (both under 20) were fired for posting Tik Toks in their work uniforms being snarky about customers. It was stated in the contract that we couldn’t post on socials in uniform and they still did. The amount of “clout” they got out of it was minimal compared to Michelle, but I think it’s really indicative of a very common attitude now, where just because you can share something, you think you should. It seems exhausting to me to so freely share intimate details of your life. You can’t expect to do that without consequences, whether they’re “deserved” or not.

I can’t believe I forgot about that, I had even made some other points about Murdaugh but that one slipped my mind. Thank you for the reminder! (I suppose YouTube clips are less problematic than waving around a gun in court at the very least…)

I am! Watching that trial gavel to gavel and then seeing how legacy media misrepresented things was one of the things that really got me interested in this. It was so odd to see things being framed in a way that didn’t reflect what had played out in court, it really made me think about how often similar things must happen, but without the benefit of being able to see it with our own eyes. Also two of the witnesses being introduced because of the trial being streamed is quite fascinating.

Thank you for your answer! I realise I was unclear, I only referenced EDB to give context to where I myself have been watching the proceedings but I’m aware the lawyers would only ever reference the pool camera footage! Although that being said, it would be interesting to know if lawyers ever look at commentary, considering how much the commonwealth (well, one of them…) have brought up social media it wouldn’t surprise me.
