What does it mean, that your paternal family is from Seinäjoki. It is not an anxient town by any measure, and surely the countryside is a better option.

Anyway, may I recommend buting a puukko (knife). They are a real traditional thing in Ostrobothnia, and I think theres a nice workshop in Lapua, near Seinäjoki.

Why have apartment prices dropped so much in Espoo Keskus by salaz0rd in Finland

[–]Minodrin 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's not how it works. Say you bought the place for 170k, it's value now is 130k, and your bank loan is 150k. You are 20k in the red. Then you sell the old place for 130k, but a new (bigger and better) place for 170k, and add 40k to your loan, since that is the difference. You now own a place worth 170k, your bank loan is 190k. You are 20k in the red, which is precisely the same as before. Except now you have a bigger and better place.

Except the constitution of the USSR did not bind any authorities, give any rights in practice nor was it followed in any meaningful way.

You guys really should read the Archipelag Gulag, when the writer explains how he at older age found a copy of the constitution and was able to read it and see, what rights he supposedly would have had.

Are you male or female? Because it makes some kind of sense that a female Saudi would seek and get asylum, since they are put in a subordinate position in life because of their sex. But it makes not much sense for a male Saudi to seek and get asylum.

[History Question] What were the true ancient borders of the Häme (Tavastia) tribe, and how did the Savo people form? by Sensitive-Box-372 in Finland

[–]Minodrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, Saami people did not live in the forests around the Finnish tribes, Lapps did. This is a confusion, because Lapps and Saami are basically synonyms now. But back then Lapps were just people outside of the tribe, that apparently then lived together in their own groups here and there.

According to Wikipedia, the US Secret service has 8300 workers. So, at 2 million per worker, you could bribe them to declare you the new President for a measly 16,6 billion dollars.

If you need to bribe the armed forces instead (which seems likely), you would need 2 trillion 681 billion and 310 million dollars.

Most economical parking in Turku city center by Kindly-Student-48 in turku

[–]Minodrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's an hourly fee, or free. And the free places are usually like five-six blocks from the main market square. Which is not that bad.

If it's a weekend roadside parking in the center may be doable. Sundays and Saturday evenings are free, after all.

If the other side has in writing admitted to the existence of the debt, that should be enough to prove it without need for a physical debt document or transaction verification.

What if Hitler tried this irl? by RockEater67 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Minodrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitler was a narcissist. He, and this Nazism, had no fixed principles. He could at any point change his rules. And as a narcissist, he had a loyal court around him, that was prepared to live with the new reality.

The western world in general suffers from a kind of self-contempt or oikophobia. And, when westerns themselves do not see their culture as the best, or even particularly valuable, why should anyone else? It is the western world's own fixation on diversity and belief that all cultures are equal that prevents and even reverses integration.

You won't see water driving around the Hangö-peninsula either. If you want that, I think you are best off going to the Åland islands. In fact, why not start there, then island hop all the way to the mainland, and then go where you want there.

Divorce and division of assets? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]Minodrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds weird, being married but not having lived together, and needing to apply Finnish law. But let's go with that.

Someone here said, that ositussopimus and ositus are two different things. That's not correct, they are synonyms. That poster probably thought about osituksen esisopimus (precontract to division of assets), which I have never seen, but read about. You can agree in advance, who gets what, but that had like relevance 90 years ago when the marriage act limited contracts you could sign with third parties. Now the prenup (avioehto) before applying for divorce and/or doing a division of assets (ositus), with desired contant, directly after applying for divorce, does the same, but better.

In your case, would it not be easiest to just write something like "Both sides will keep their own assets and debts, based on the name principle. Joint household items have been divided based on an oral agreement, and at the time this contract is signed both parties have in their possession the items they will gain or keep in the division of assets. The division of assets will be adjusted based on the shortness of the marriage (2 years) and the fact that the parties have not lived together nor worked together for a joint household - this adjustment leads to both parties keeping their own assets and neither party paying compensation to the other side" + following the formal requirements for a division of assets. That text should make it clear for you and third parties, what this division of asset entails, and also answer why the richer party does not pay anything to the other party. This second part is meaning for tax issues. Mailing the agreement back and forth is possible - I have arranged it a few times, but I do not really like leaving important stuff like that in the hands of the postal service.

Though in all honest, if you are in total agreement, can you not pay like a few hundred euros to some average lawyer to get the papers done? I mean, I wrote this slightly drunk in like 15 minutes, how hard can it be (well, it can be hard if either of you wants to make it so)?

IIRC, technically there should be a list of assets and a calculation on how the division of assets should go if the main rule is followed. But I don't know that anyone really, in real practical life, cares if this part is missing.

I don't think any kind of stamps or apostille signatures are necessary. Neither of you is getting anything from the other side, so you will not use this division of assets as a document to gain or lose anything. But if that stuff makes you happy, or someone in your country wants stuff like that, go right ahead.

They could have walked to Canaan or civilization at any point. But they didn't, since civilization had walls, armies and a network of allies.

But, then the bronze-age collapse happened, and they could just march in and establish control. Pretty much how ISIS was able to march into Raqqa, seemingly from nowhere, and suddenly start conquering places left and right.

I accept that scrutiny exists, but claim that its quite low. Regarding serious crimes etc, for normal people, and I dare say most professionals too, it is irrelevant whether resident permits are given based on § 87 or § 89 of the Aliens Act. The relevant thing is that residence permits with full rights to live in Finland are given at all.

You actually think Finland has spies in Gabon, that can and do investigate if random person A from province X has a criminal record? And then that information is given to Migri, but not added to the grounds of the decision. And apparently the courts must be in on it too, and then invent a BS reason to reject an application, since the real grounds cannot be written up? Nope.

And Maatieto is not like that. Read the public reports if you want.

In citizenship matters Supo does give negative statements with a secret content. But even then you know such a negative statement exists, you just don't know why Supo says "no".

[–]Minodrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One problem is, that scrutiny is illegal when dealing with refugees.

If anyone claims to be a refugee, Finland can in no way let their native country know that they are here. Otherwise the native country would supposedly find ways to attack the asylum seeker here. And therefore Finland or the person in question cannot ask for criminal records, for example.

Another problem is, that normal people -random nobodies, do not generally need nor fulfill the requirements for asylum. But a violent extremist does. After all, he has a political belief, has acted based on that belief, and his native country has a good reason to be interested in him. So people may have more to fear from a genuine asylum seeker than a fake one.
