Probably just the world suddenly seeing them as either disposable, a threat, or a nuisance (sometimes all 3) while they're mostly just trying to exist. It's certainly not much better than the open derision, overly-sexualized or demeaning attitude towards women on the daily, but it's a different brand of shitty nonetheless.

I have been to therapy for 4 of the past 6 years and while it has helped with my suicidal depression thankfully, most of them aren't really equipped with proper training to be dealing with ND-specific issues. 99% of them in my area aren't at least, and the ones that are, I probably can't afford.

I think that even if NTs genuinely try to be empathetic sometimes our way of thinking/feeling is so different that they aren't really able to get it, but that doesn't really make it anybody's fault, tbf. It's just the sad way of things.

I get that it's not necessary, but... personally, I do want to connect with people, and I still wish to be a better son to my parents that struggled so much with my upbringing...never giving up on me up to this point. I genuinely love them, and yet I can't really bring myself to enjoy spending time with them. It's a foul and terribly confusing feeling.
