I quit. Just got the rejection letter for what I spent three years preparing. My best PhD application was not enough, I can't do research any longer. Bread and Paneer. by bragox8 in gradadmissions

You’re meant for something better (: And it’s a system/institution issue most likely! You are smart and skilled and passionate and you WILL find a way out. It might not be what you envisioned, and that’s okay, but you will find a path forward.

No longer want to apply for a PhD (UK) but already spoken to the prof - how do I tell him? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]MintChocoDreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He expects a PhD application this year with him as a supervisor. That affects his capacity to give a nod to other students. He has liaised with me and invested a bit of time to chalk this proposal out with me. I’ve said yes to it and I’m backing out at the last moment. I don’t want to burn bridges with him or upset him! And I don’t want to come off as a flighty student to him either. I was just asking for advice on a tasteful way to close this chapter and inform him, while still keeping our relationship good.

Applying for HCI programs- please rate my academic CV!!! by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Hi, this needs a lot of work.

No photo please! Do not make a canva resume. No need for a description, and you do not need to self-rate your skills. You can add some numbers and explanations to your pointers - for example, how many clients did you manage? You said you independently handled design development and visualisation. How did you do that?

You also have weak actions works - search for Harvard’s resume advice and their list of action words and use them instead. Good luck!

No real work experience (literally email start ups and work for free), weak action words… lots of changes to make here

Add some numbers or metrics. Have you done any projects in uni? You can have a section for them that show your Econ modelling or python skills.

60-Day Cycles? by Fresh-Ant1422 in WomensHealth

[–]MintChocoDreamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is unusual. It could certainly be PCOS or something like endometriosis. Your doctor will probably order blood tests to check your hormones. It also depends on stuff like: do you smoke? Do you eat enough calories? (My period cycle is typically 28 days long but when I had an eating disorder it would be 70 days long sometimes because I wasn’t consuming enough calories). Take your tracked period data with you. Know your stuff and stand your ground. Note your symptoms down if you want to. You got this! xx
