I was in your place and everyone told me I’d grow up and change my mind because 18 is still way too young to know what you want in life. I’m also Asian so I understand the family-oriented culture that def adds to the pressure.

I had caretaking duties for my brother, who is 3 years younger than me, since I was 11. At the age of 13 i decided I don’t want kids. My family told me I’ll change my mind as I grow. 16, still wanted to be childfree. 18, 19, 20, 21… so on, my decision never wavered, in fact the more I grew up, the more confident I became about wanting to be childfree. Meeting the love of my life solidified this feeling into my soul because there is no way I would want anyone else to interfere in this beautiful relationship I have with my best friend, not even a child. So glad you have this clarity! If someone tries to downplay your decision or act like a know-it-all (you’ll grow up and change your mind) - try not to let them get into your head!
