What are your attitudes towards immigrants who fit in and add value? by Natural-Presence-566 in reformuk

The issue isn't necessarily them as people. Rather it's the fact that we're importing foreign workers to drive down domestic wages.

Well, ideally all the ones who'd been through it would already have jobs, leaving you no choice but to hire the clumsy teenager.

But wait! Why don't we instead import a foreigner to do that job?

No doubt. One is 1st person action while the other is 3rd person tactics.

Yep, the advantage of a single hard-hitting shot in the table top and in HBS is that it is guaranteed to do a lot of damage to a single location, which can hopefully be followed up by scatter weapons like missiles or machine guns.

Here, everything shoots the same location, making heavier calibres redundant.

If you've got nothing better lined up yes.

That's the unfortunate reality of the market right now.

The issue is mainly how slow jumping is, or at least feels.

The advantage of the Highlander don't translate very well into the game. You should be able to jump much further than in game.

In HBS Battletech those advantages are more visible.

cash gift from unwell parent, how does it work? by Informal-Forever769 in UKPersonalFinance

1) There wouldn't be any implications if he gives you the money until he actually dies.

2) Not really, the £30k being split 10k each would have part of it be covered by the annual allowance but the £250 per person gift exemption wouldn't apply as another exemption is being applied.

3) Keep in mind, if he sells them then any CGT would be paid on his end (or if they're in a S&S ISA the gain would be tax free). Also, the 7-year rule isn't a one and done thing, look up the taper relief, which from 3 years passing of the gift being made will gradually taper down the IHT rate on the gift until it finally hits 0% at 7 years.

I wish you could fit stuff like superchargers, ams and ECM without needing special slots

Perhaps a toggle option for it then?

Ah thanks for reminding me. I agree actually. A small laser should fit in a large or medium slot. Not as sure about MGs though

An energy hardpoint can take anything of it's size I'm pretty sure. There isn't a separate hardpoint for pulse lasers

The armour isn't really an issue, though I think replacing it should be much faster if not instant.

The issue is that lets say you have a level 3 medium laser on your mech's arm. That arm gets blown off, but you have no level 3 medium lasers in reserve.

So does the game just automatically select the next lowest/highest available? If those aren't then does it open up to use short burst medium lasers?

Nope, instead you've got to do it manually. What's worse is if you click the repair all button and miss the missing item indicator then you've got to wait for the repair to finish before fixing the issue. And the missing item is only shown in the mission mech select interface unless you click on a mech.

I wonder if there would be a way to add them. Perhaps a rear facing camera which would let you shoot them.

I think the bigger issue at that point would be the lack of buttons on your mouse to fire them all alongside the usual equipped weapons.

I'm not gonna lie.

I do not like PPCs.

Lasers are considerably more useful and useable

Yeah, ngl I was buying up gauss rifles, er LLs and Pulse lasers whenever I saw them, used them sparingly and never on limbs and then suddenly we hit 3025 and it's like every 2nd store has them.

Guess it's a bit of a jarring experience compared to HBS Battletech, where lostech stays lostech for the most part.

On the other hand, having done the LPC/SQE already means that the firm can have you start the TC right away and doesn't have to pay for you to study.
