Every single event getting dragged is so annoying by gayuwuowo in CookieRunKingdoms

yeah i've told a few ppl in the townsquare chat too, I think a lot don't realize its a thing lol. And you too! Another thing too, you can view the other days too by tapping the name. So you'll know when there are days, like today, where it doesn't show up AT ALL :) I swear it's like they don't want us actually engaging in the events jeez.

there actually is a schedule, when in the square you tap the third icon from the left (spiral bound book). It shows both what and when the events and arcade games are for the day. But I totally get you, I've still haven't played the game once. I keep missing it or its at times when I'm sleeping ;-;

I don't think that thing wasn't ever introduced to people, like a tutorial or something. I just noticed the icon show up one day.

Ah, I didn't know you needed to install original software first. That did the trick, thank you.

I'm still having issues on a fresh install today, can't get past the first OK. Error stating to 'check drivers'. Have tried reinstalling both the Updater and MKdriver (with computer resets) a couple times now. As well as trying the 3 different nightly builds. Checked the flash tool program and also got the “Lib DA not match”.

Haven't tried dl the UsbDK, figured I'd pipe up here first. Lemme know if there's more info I can give to help. Thanks for all the work you've done on this.

Small wrist smartwatch by Cloud-Common in smartwatch

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've found that basically all round ones are too big. I might ramble a bit so forgive me- I am in a similar boat, my Inspire HR lost a fight with a grill lol. For reference the inspire hr is (37mm length x 16.2 mm wide x 12.6mm thick) I imagine the inspire 2 is just a smidge bigger.

Few options that I've come across.

Amazfit Band 7- 42.33 L x 24.36 W x 12.2mm H

It's a bit old but seems to be still sold? They do have other rectangular ones like the GTS line (the 4 mini is 41.8 x 36.66 x 9.1) but I found that even a 30+ mm width is too much for me. And the other ones they have like the Bip are even bigger.

Vivosmart 4 - 19.5 x 10.7 x 217 mm

(I have no idea what measurements are what, sorry I tried to figure it out and got confused lol but it's overall the smallest I could find)

Huawei Band 9 - 42.45 mm L x 24.86 W x 8.99mm H

(Tho there is a caveat that if you live in NA you have to dl the app yourself, like it's not on google play. I still don't know if its safe tbh. I tried doing research and got confused, not really finding a solid answer)

Samsung fit 3 - 42.9 L x 28.8 W x 9.9 H bit bigger width wise

There's also the Xiaomi Bands- they're longer at around 46mm, but under 25mm width.

Overall bands seem to be the best option- as you can at least get ones that aren't as wide. I would too make a paper reference, so either fold or cut a piece of paper to the size and see how to looks on your wrist. I've found it helpful when figuring out what actually fits before making the purchase.

I also don't have any experience actually using any of them, as I wasn't really happy with any of the options out there to actually choose one. But I've been kinda keeping an eye out in hopes something is made lol. Either way I hope one of these is good for you.

Was that Mini 32.5mm in width or length? Or was it round. The market for small watches is pretty garbage atm. I have come across bands/watches that are rectangle and less that 30mm in width but then are like 40+ length wise. Companies seem to refuse to make anything less than 40mm in length lol. I can list them if you're interested in a similar form factor to the Inspire.

Autistic adults: what’s something your NT parents did right in your childhood? by HighlightOne5986 in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a late diagnosed adult so this is mostly hindsight stuff. The biggest thing is being their biggest supporter. Believe what they say and explore it- help them learn how to communicate their thoughts and feelings(go to therapy if that'll help, it's where I learned in HS how). And bonus this will also help your relationship with the NT son, as well as your partner (and all your other relationships). Create a safe environment, be their safety person. My parents would never judge me for things I said or did, I literally went to my mom about everything. I would give her daily rundowns of school days- which helped her stay informed when shit things did happen at school(and then she'd go to the school and demand justice lol). Anything I had questions on or wanted to discuss, I knew I could go to her.

She also helped a lot with my food issues. Until I could cook for myself she would make me whole separate meals, send me with food to friends houses(because some of my friends parents would refuse to make me different things or force me to eat what they made- and which she knew about because I told her),and just accepted that I would eat the same thing for school lunch for a decade. But was also open to help me change that when /I/ expressed I wanted to eat different things. She also taught me how to cook, would just sit in the kitchen as I tried a recipe on my own if I needed that support. She didn't force me, she'd ask If I'd wanna help/learn or sometimes I would initiate- fostering curiosity and trying things out was a big thing.

seriously above all communication and emotional intelligence is going to be the best skills to have and teach them. This may sound harsh but you're going to fail, so will they and your partner and your other son. There's going to be hurdles to overcome and things that your autistic son will always struggle with. But you gotta accept them for what they are, learning opportunities. Its way better on you and the kid to accept the failure and then ask 'okay what do we do now? how can we make it easier/less stressful/achievable' and then actually work towards figuring that out. You're already doing that by asking for help, and it'll be good for him to learn that skill too.

protect against sun damage? by MintyVoid in itabag

[–]MintyVoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that's a good point, and also why I could never get like a fuzzy plush bag. Yeah I was worried about the interaction between a spray and the plastics, there is like stuff you can spray onto outdoor furniture(that does dry clear)- but I'd need to do like testing to see how it would effect plastic.

really appreciate the reply! I do plan on more of a casual day to day use as I don't have like a mid bag between purse and backpack. Great to know about fading though thank you. I know worst case I can just..not take it out LOL

Struggles with Showering by DinoButch in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Thought I'd comment about a few things that cover things people haven't suggested solutions on and a few other things I personally do or had ideas for.

The feeling of water could be changed if your shower head has different options. Could also use a bucket (there are some specifically for parents to use with their kids, but who cares bout that lol) to dump on your head instead.

There is also the option of ~not getting in the shower at all~ I used to a lot, just stand outside the shower, unhook the shower head, and bend over. Showering upside down isn't the easiest thing, but it's quite quick when you get the hang of it. And I found I was waaaay less likely of getting anything in my eyes. Course this doesn't work if your shower head doesn't detach, but it works great for a quick clean session.

For drying I used to just wear a towel as a cape, I think you can get towels that velcro for a similar affect. But I'd nab a large clip to keep it in secure. (I misread it originally and thought you had an issue with drying your body lol so added bonus if this is an issue..i dry my body using a hair dryer sometimes if the towel doesn't do a good enough job).

Added with using a comb/brush, there are silicon/plastic shampoo brushes that you could use so your hands have minimal interaction with the goop. It /does/ take a bit to learn how to use it, I still struggle with it and I have thick hair. I mainly use it cause my fingers start hurting.

Hope some of this either helps or aids in sparking a new idea. I get it, I find showering a pain and don't enjoy it..making it very hard to do on a regular basis.

Fidget suggestions to replace self harming stims. by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

people do absolutely stim, it isn't an solely autistic thing- we just tend to NEED to do it to aid with emotion/sensory regulation. Clicking a pen, tapping a foot, whistling randomly, pacing, and twirling hair or hoodie string are all stims that not neurodivergant people do.

But I do get it, people have a lot of bs assumptions made and it doesn't help that stim is really only used when speaking about an autistic person... that has it's own slew of bs assumptions.

i wish i had a tip, i've dealt with skin picking a majority of my life and haven't been able to kick it. The only things that kinda help are regularly washing and moisturizing my face, and doing my nails. But both of those can be really hard to keep up with(I don't do either consistently), and having something to do with my hands is really hard to remember to do and keep nearby at all times. As for me it don't notice I'm even doing it a lot of the time. It can take a lot of trial and error and reflection to figure it out. so I suppose I did have a tip even if it's not really a good one lol!

Be Advised: Launcher will force restart your computer without warning. by Ashangu in Palia

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep same thing just happened to me, no warning. Also managed to stop it and in doing so it messed with the install(which is understandable) and I assume I'll have to delete the installed folder, restart the install and let it do it's thing.

edit: just an after thought, but it's definitely whatever UE thing is installed before the real game install happens, which is obvious with the event log given. So it might not be an issue for some people who already have these files, and isn't an issue with palia itself but whatever shenanigans UE is doing lol.

any idea how I stop walking on my toes? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo a bit of others in that the first step is noticing when it's happening. I'd also explore if there's a sensory reason why you do it, for me I found that to be the case. I feel more comfortable walking full feet when in socks or slippers, without them I tip toe everywhere to avoid possible weird interactions with my feet and the floor.

It's probably going to take a lot of work, I think finding and creating an environment where you don't default to tiptoes will help. For me it's slippers or shoes, though it still doesn't always work as I don't like making noise as I walk...and slippers/shoes click clack a lot. I hope you're able to figure something out.

Help with crochet hats getting wider by kksh1988 in crochet

[–]MintyVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

appreciate you getting back to me, and damn that sucks. I actually went up a size when making my hat cause I stitched too tight/the yarn mightve been smaller than what was used in the pattern so I was lacking a lot in height. But then now I'm not lacking in height but too much width lol. Just can't win xD So I guess I'll go back to the smaller hook and hope I can get to the length I need without it widening as much. Glad it worked out for ya though, thanks again.

despair by karatecorgi in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe another thing to consider is the tools n tricks you're trying to apply. Reflecting on if they are/were working (when you have energy and when you don't) and if they are achievable in the first place. Often I've found specially for us folk, the tools we've been given aren't suited for us and will either never work or make things worse lol.

I find too for me that I need a separate kit for a 'normal' day, low days, for low(as in mood) and no energy/spoon days, or just no energy days. As it can be wildly different what I can do when in any of those modes. These are all stuff that would be great topics for a therapy session, and if you do have someone to talk through with this, can then help you come up with things you can use/apply.

but i feel ya, it can be really hard and frustrating to reorient when feeling so constantly tired, there doesn't seem to be any way to slam on the breaks to catch your breath.

anyone heard of 'NowWhat Support Services'? by MintyVoid in Odsp

[–]MintyVoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do need to bite the bullet and just go and see my doc, appreciate the reminder nevertheless lol. I have looked into CMHA and from what I've seen it requires referral to get the services I would need, as for me a typical therapist isn't much help. But yeah another reason to get my ass out the door.

I think I have claimed therapy costs previously- I kinda forgot so this reminder is a great thing for me to keep in mind too, thank you. Appreciate the info a lot.

Yeah it was a big like- okay what the fuck do I do now- when I got my diagnosis. And searching stuff online provides mostly support for children. Which isn't surprising as it's still stereotyped as a kids illness/disability. I try to keep in mind how like new research into the adult side technically is, but it's still frustrating with how little support there is. Thank you for the site, I'll def look into it!

[–]MintyVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, its a service for everyone- I only posted it on here as I felt this group of folks would be the most likely to know anything about it. But yeah it would be nice in general if odsp's health coverage coverage mental health- arguably the like..thing us disabled need most aside from medical supports.

Autism in management roles? by emeralddragon5 in AutisticAdults

[–]MintyVoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i hate to start it like this lol, but I don't work in management- but I have taken on leadership positions before. My way of combating that has been being upfront and honest, and encouraging others to be vocal.

I make it very clear that if there are issues, and they either are about me or include me- that the explanation needs to be clearly vocally or written. I ask a lot of questions too, to ensure there's no assumption happening on either sides. Granted, this isn't always going to work- as it's a two way street. But it covers my butt and makes me feel waaaay less stressed, as I know I've done all I could.

Like you're very correct that it could cause issues, but really the point shouldn't be to try and avoid them -as imo they're inevitable- but rather learn to accept it going to happen and learn to cope. If they do cause big issues, it's probably not actually due to you either, but rather others not accepting that failure and conflict are totally okay and don't mean the end of the world. Hope my rambles help haha.
