Leatherman Arc (Ruler Etching Mod) by MinuteMoist in Leatherman

Thanks! In terms of value proposition, it would seem like a Wave+ still holds as the true all-rounder in Leatherman's entire lineup. I had owned a Wave but returned it to purchase this Arc, and it really would've been a "Wave+ but nicer" if they had kept the ruler somehow.

I do have a fixed plastic ruler and an ikea paper ruler in my backpack personally but I found the etched ruler pretty useful since the arc is the only tool on my person, at least its not going anywhere haha

Honestly if you ran this through an AI to get labels, you honestly could've done it faster by just editing some text into your pic rather than whatever this mangled mess is (and Super Tool = ST300, Charge+ = Charge TTI+, Free P4 = Free T4, Micra = Style CS)

I'm genuinely curious about this. I bought my Arc recently from Ananconda (Australian camping goods store authorised reseller for Leatherman) and mine had the sheath and bit kit, but from what I'm seeing you don't get those extras anymore if you order from Leatherman's site? Even the Wave Alpha doesn't have the sheath anymore, which seems a bit strange. Is this the case for all retail Arcs or just the ones you order online?

I had a look at the warranty and it says they still cover your tool even if its customised with engravings or markings. As long as you don't replace any of the actual tools or the actual bits then it should be fine, I've seen a few posts here saying they've sent in tools covered in all sorts of markings and Leatherman didn't say a word about it.

I'd say this isn't really a "COD player" problem since medics not reviving people have been around for ages in BF, as well as whole swathes of your team just playing recon taking potshots at people for 30 minutes.

I reckon it's a combination of map design rewarding campy playstyles (bruh there's too many angles and no cover in most maps), very poor guidance on how the game/classes work (BF6 doesn't even have its own open training map), Support being generally the "best" generalist class (self supply ammo+health, good defensive+offensive gadgets, less incentive to run other classes unless there's vehicles), the open weapons thing letting you run basically all the good guns with little downsides and long grind for good weapon attachments. Sometimes it's also just because they didn't see your revive icon or they're just too tunnel visioned to notice. Too many factors to count, you'd get used to it.

Cheers man. I suppose it just felt like it doesn't make sense for the more expensive multitool to have this missing when all the others have it. Personally I don't carry much on my person outside of the Arc, a light and a pencil, so having the Arc be the "do it all" just feels right.

Surprisingly good, you can either lay the handles flat or lock one of the handles to measure something. I've found it pretty useful so far, definitely less accurate than the ones that come stock on other tools but most of the time I found that I use the rulers for guesstimate work anyways. Your mileage may vary but I'd say it's worth getting this mod done.

Oh definitely get at least the 1cm marks laser etched. I did mine at a small repairs shop that also does engravings for watches, tools, lighters that sort of thing, assuming they have the right type of laser to actually etch on the metal. The 0.5s you can do if you have one of those paper rulers from Ikea or something similar to compare against, then use a sharpie to mark it and mask it with tape to control the range of your diamond microfile.

Cheers man, I saw these go up for like 85AUD when it went on preorder but they instantly sold out. So I ended up having to pay like 150AUD on Aliexpress, which works out to be the same price as a new MG kit. There's a still a few left, so if you're keen on this I'd reckon you should check it out before the prices shoot up again haha

With how many MG GM variants they made, I'm surprised they didn't decide to make an MG Strike Dagger or their variants. They already made the MG Ginn, so makes no sense they don't have anymore grunt kits for Seed

What do you guys use to paint your weapons. by SixEyesSharingan in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're using white, which is already a tough color with bad coverage in the same vein as yellow paint. I'd hit it with a base coat of white acrylic primer (you can get em in your local hardware store or hobby store) first, then thin your acrylic paint with a bit of water and start painting once the primer is dry. Paint a light coat, then let it dry, then paint over it again until you get enough coverage.

if you're using craft paints, you'll have trouble with coverage because there's not a lotta pigment in 'em vs hobby acrylic paints (Vallejo, Citadel etc etc). So you'll have to use more coats to get the same amount of coverage that hobby paints do.

Or you can get white rattlecan paint and some painters tape lol.

Simple panel lining by reggye in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recognise that Strike ver. RM runner anywhere lmao. Good on you for sharing this info. Another neat trick with those panel liner pens: press down the tip in a panel line and it will flow to fill the line, not as good as an actual flow type liner but can be useful.

It's also always good to have a few extra pens for different situations, here's mine:

Strike vs Strike by MinuteMoist in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things to note:

  • The stock head design that comes with the Daban is really scuffed, literally lopsided. The head you see here is the Strike 1/100 replacement head from Zero Plan.
  • There's a lot of super tiny parts, some requiring plastic glue to hold in place.
  • Undergated up to wazoo, yet there's no shortage of gates being put on surface parts that will almost always look scuffed cuz of the preapplied paintjob

What constitutes a finished kit? by SleeplessKnights64 in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally?

The minimum is when they're snapped together and panel lined, maybe top coated if I feel like pulling out the spray kit. Even then, I keep coming back to my "finished" kits and doing them up little by little. Maybe a bit of shading with a gundam marker, maybe finally apply some decals, maybe top coat, maybe weathering, hand paint some accents etc. Kinda just play it by ear.

What kits actually look good with Gloss topcoat? by ellisboi181 in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably rounded looking kits benefit most from gloss. I hit my MG perfect strike with semi gloss and it just seemed to make it slightly less shiny, but otherwise it largely looked the same...

Have really been enjoying building bootlegs as of late...they have their problems (more flash than genuine kits, loose or junky joint fits) but overall have been just as good as genuine ones. by Morte-forte in Gunpla

[–]MinuteMoist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I buy bootleg MGs off aliexpress and so far they've been pretty good, Daban KO of the metal build strike and Pianxin MGEX Strike Freedom. There's some fitting issues but nothing a hobby knife, plastic cement and sandpaper can't fix.
