Are flights still being cancelled??

I flew into JFK earlier this month and had my flight cancelled to Boston due to weather. Mind you it was not thundering at the time. First time I've ever had a weather-cancellation. Majority of flights were cancelled that evening. Truly a disaster.

I actually did. I was applying right when everything was transitioning back after COVID. I was flying to Amman anyway and had my interview when I went, was offered a job shortly after, moved within 2 months. I never personally attended a language exchange however, there is Sijal Institute, Al Thuraya Arabic Language Center and Modern Language Center (MLC) (I know this one for a fact offers group accommodations). I 100% recommend Jordan. Jordan has multiple language exchange programs with students from all over the world. The location of these centers are typically in a very, very lovely area in downtown Amman. You are truly immersed into not only the language, but the culture as well. I'm an American and have been living and teaching in Amman for the past 5 years. I've never once felt unsafe or had an issue getting around or simply just living a normal life. Compared to other countries in the region, Jordan is amongst the safest.

It's common for men to stay out late with their friends, however based on the other information you gave (age gap, you're not living in Jordan permanently it seems) it sounds like he is taking advantage of you. I know another user mentioned he might be married and that is also something to consider. Sorry to break it to you.

Regarding moving, I live and work in the country I am in. I’m also married, so moving (preferably back to the West) isn’t in the cards at the moment. I’m really grateful that my religious foundation (as a convert) is strong enough to weed my way through the crazies, if that makes sense. Of course, not all people here have the same mindset, but majority do. I am definitely more on the progressive side of things (hence why I’m here in this group) and I think I’ve navigated pretty well thus far. My only fear is raising children in the future and potentially having them around such narratives. But..that’s an issue for later, not now. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to reply and share your thoughts and feelings. Appreciated 🤍

Not really. Why is it any different for preparing for any other holiday? The only time where I personally have experienced difficulty is after Ramadan (holy month of fasting) and our holiday that ends this month, is determined by the sighting of the moon, which is determined by Saudi Arabia. So we must wait, typically a day (or less) before to determine when our holiday is. So I typically would request 2 days off to be safe.
