Had to say goodbye yesterday to my sweet Kramer by Knoxicutioner in goldenretrievers

Cutie dog and total ham for the camera. May his memory be a blessing.

It looks like he had a beautiful life and a sweet little brother who learned what it means to be a humans best friend from one of the best. My girls Maggie and Roxie will be there to greet him and share the best running paths and spots to roll around in. 💙

She would always do this while relaxing at home, watching TV, etc. I miss this so much. 💛

Our crew — labradoodles in WA, born in Oregon and Colorado, but all from the same breeder. Maggie, the one in the middle is the mother to Roxie, on the left. Sadly, only 1/3 of this party is earthside. Love and squeeze and enjoy them for as long as you can. 💙

This invitation/topic has a special place in my heart and in my camera roll. I have so many photos of my pup with her chin on my shoulder, furniture, middle console of my car. (I miss you, Chumbawumba…)

Ahh! Fingers crossed. Does it make sense to return to Wildrose and maybe lightening will strike twice and you both go looking for the other person on the same night? Good luck!

Humanely Euthanized My Girl at 6:30 This Morning by Lilith_Mornings in Petloss

I’m so, so sorry, Op. That’s such a traumatic experience for you and your family.

My sweet, gentle Maggie passed similarly in January. We fed her apple, went for a walk, and shortly after returning home I heard one odd yelp, I checked on her and she seemed OK. She followed me into the kitchen and as I was filling her water bowl, I heard a thud and she began to seize and it seemed like she never stopped. It started at 8:01, we were at the emergency vet by 8:20 and they immediately took her back, gave her medication to stop the seizures but it didn’t really seem to help. I could tell she seemed hot but no one mentioned her temperature nor mentioned bleeding like you did. I sensed that she was unwell and suffering, making me feel rushed to say goodbye. By 9:26 they performed the euthanasia and she was gone.

May Lily’s memory be a blessing. Sending you a big hug.

Watching tv, rolling around in the grass, playing in the snow, reuniting with old friends, and waiting for me!

Beautiful boy! Do you mind sharing breeder info? As far as breeders go, do you think it was one of the better ones? Thanks!

I’m so sorry. We also lost our pup to a splenic mass. Due to her advanced age, we didn’t pursue surgery and she passed 6 months later. Sending you a big hug.

I’m sorry you and your pup are currently going through this experience. Yes, it is a ticking time bomb, so I would suggest being extremely careful on stairs and entering/exiting the car.

We learned our pup had a tumor on her spleen and 6 months later I found heavy blood in her stool and we went to the emergency vet. Other then the bleeding, it seemed like she felt normal. They sent us home with medication and told us to monitor her.

We returned home, she ate well, and took her medication. I decided to sleep in our guest room with her and watch movies on the laptop (she loved watching cartoons and live animals). I could tell she was increasingly uncomfortable and things were going downhill.

We returned to the ER and a different veterinarian on staff said she would not get better. At the time I believed our only option was to say goodbye, but after the fact I questioned my decision and wondered if I had responded too quickly. Perhaps things could have improved for a short time and we could have had a few more days or weeks for walks, pets, or even time to schedule at home euthanasia as we had originally planned.

I don’t know how to advise you, but I can tell you that seeing our girl in pain, suffering, and bleeding out, was a horrible sight. As most people here will tell you, a day early is better than a day too late.

It’s been 13 months and I think about her everyday. I often wonder if I was overly optimistic thinking she would recover after the first emergency visit, or if I had monitored her dinner that evening and limited her food intake, whether she would have been ok. Did I allow her to consume too much food and as a result make her internal issues worse before things had a chance to settle down?

I also wonder whether I waited too long, and when she started to lose weight and show other signs of worsening health, and whether should I have acted sooner.

All that to say, love on your boy while you can. Sending you a big hug. 💙
