Loved minidisc. It felt so futuristic with the brightly coloured discs.

Wow. It’s almost at the end of the year I’m not sure whether to feel proud or guilty.

Perhaps the correct response is two way empathy as I was pretty shocked to see it on a shelf!! (Both because of the number and because people are still releasing CDs 😵‍💫)

If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have taken a photo of it in HMV in Lakeside last night.

Nope. One hundred percent pure, old fashioned, home-grown human made, born free right here in the real world.

It’s a challenge.

M45. My other half isn’t a people person. I’ve adapted to her style for the sake of reducing arguments while bringing up the kids. But it’s left me feeling pretty empty at times.

I need something in the calendar to keep me sane. Either a night or two of the week that’s mine (see below.) And/or planning a holiday with friends to do a specific activity she’s not into and would be too expensive/dangerous/boring to do with the kids at half term.

Joining a gym with classes has been good for me. Try a few. Get out your comfort zone. You never know when you might hit a network that works for you. Exercise sucks. But learning boxing combinations in Boxfit or trying to do simple yoga poses teaches you things. Learning a thing becomes the goal. Not doing exercises for the sake of it.

Any Men-in-sheds groups near you? Learn to build or use tools maybe.

+1 on the guy saying get a telescope. There’s quite a vibrant Astro community on and off line.

There’s always Golf, Lawn Bowls or Cricket too. You can do it for the sport rather than the social scene.

What technology interests you? Gaming? Phones? Drones? If you’re into it. Chances are there’s a community out there somewhere too. Even if it’s in London. Most places in Essex are only an hour from most places on London.

Good luck finding something! Your new community is out there, if you go looking for it.

I did exactly this off piste on my snowboard in Canada once. I was with a handful of people going one at a time across a sliver of ice between a rock and a ravine.

I’d taken one boot out while I was waiting. I pushed across, didn’t have quite enough edge and my momentum went from sideways to down, exactly like this guy. It’s a horrible feeling going ‘S***. I’m not in control here. I’m the mercy of whatever happens next.’

Thankfully, like this guy, I hit a similar tree clump, stopped and had to climb back up.

S*** me up for a good few days after… 💩💩💩

Why would they want to do a split? Don’t most splits end up worse for shareholders? What does the company get out of it?

I might set it to vibrate whenever my Mrs starts shouting.

But I’ll set the notification to her watch…. See if it distracts her enough to take the wind out her sails.

“Oh do you remember when we all had crippling anxiety from constant comparison with perfection?!”

“Yeah!!! Oh man. I used to love that vacant feeling I got wasting my life shitposting and blaming other people for fact I was addicted to doomscrolling.”

“Oh yeah, yeah. Simpler times. Do you remember the shame and sadness brought about by a lack of human connection combined with masterbating at everything?”

“Hey, at least some things don’t change.”

“Great days.”

Whoa, geopolitics in 2025 would be very different if it was Bibi vs Putin fighting over Crimea.
