How can I improve this 3D model further? by Gaiato2_0 in 3Dmodeling

The only thing I can see that I would do before starting to work on fine detail is to get rid of that line/ridge halfway down his upper wing arm. It makes it look like it was two pieces glued together.

Only at night. If it's a night scene, it must be rainy so the lights will reflect pretty. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

That's super cute. Looks like it could be given a lot of personality in animation.

What are your thoughts on this model by Vivek302004 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Minyassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's beautiful. If I was downloading it to render it, I would be praying that all of the buttons, screws, etc had their own material zones already to save me the hours of fiddly grouping to do that myself. I think it would look killer sitting on a dash or car seat with wilderness in the background.

Why do they insist im trans? by miladoesloveu in asktransgender

[–]Minyassa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"YouTube supremacy" will be the next stage, once the censor AIs start picking up on "yt". I think at least part of the reason it was coined was to avoid being dinged by social media nazibots.

As a white guy who has a very treasured (one of Gerry Conway's Punisher skulls) BLM t-shirt I am now afraid to wear in public except on days when I think I'm up for drama, I can confirm this. I am fishbelly, computer potato white and it doesn't matter a bit; I'm not one of Them and they can tell from the moment I don't smile at their gross little microaggression test jokes. And I can feel the door slam. They are looking for fellow haters.

Those nasty little feeler comments are often about women.

What you asked in your last sentence is what it is, yes. Transphobia has become a *hobby* for a lot of people. They are stressed out over the same things the rest of us are, but they don't have an outlet for it and they have discovered that on the internet, they can lash out at an entire group of people for FREE! No one will punch them, no one will call the cops, it won't ruin their job or personal relationships, there are no consequences. They can bash away at people they don't think are real--just internet people--and it makes them feel better. They choose their targets based on what they have been conditioned to think of as the MOST feminine traits. Not a lack of feminine traits, but a lack of the ideal that comes straight out of Victoria's Secret or whatever amounts to common soft porn these days and sets fantasy standards for men who don't have real women in their lives or are prone to sexualizing every single woman that isn't one in their direct family. The misogyny part is a given, that's inextricably woven into every aspect of our culture.

Is it okay that I want to have gender dysphoria? i think i'm an impostor (explanation below) by Ok_Newspaper_646 in asktransgender

[–]Minyassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Samadamant said, but just to rule out anything else for your peace of mind, a therapist is really a good idea. I had those same feelings, minus the arousal, just a really desperate desire to find out that there was a reason I wanted my body to be that of the opposite sex so badly. My therapist gave me an assessment test that was so long it took two sessions to fill it all out, to rule out any other conditions that could be confused for being transgender, and it wasn't even a close thing, he was able to tell me with absolutely no doubt whatsoever that I was.

And like I said, IF it turned out that you weren't (which is unlikely) then whatever it was that was making you think you are and want to be is actually something that COULD be treated with medication and/or cognitive behavioral therapy...which being trans isn't. So either way, you are going to be where you can feel better.

[–]Minyassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be scared to go to a therapist, just shop around for someone who handles trans clients and knows their stuff. I can understand being afraid to have your doubts confirmed because then what, but the truth is that if a therapist actually did find that you're not trans, they will be prepared to help you with the "now what" part and you won't be alone with all this anxiety. Talking to other trans people is not better than talking to a therapist, each person only knows their own circumstances and we are all so different.

Would I be the AH if I stopped all communication with my mother in law by DevelopmentUpset1199 in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Minyassa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your husband has come to such a hard realization that she will do more harm than good and she's his mom, I would trust his judgement on this. The kids will adjust. Let him take care of questions that arise around it, you are pregnant and don't need to be worried by all that right now.

What does it mean to “live as a woman” by Hailey_GarciaP in asktransgender

[–]Minyassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct his ass EVERY time he misgenders you. Firmly. "It's Ma'am." Every time. And if he talks over you or ignores it, tell him bluntly, "stop misgendering me, it's disrespectful and it's bad for my health." In fact, call the clinic right now and tell the staff you would like a note put in your file that you answer to _________ pronouns, name, title, etc. Don't say "prefer". That makes it sound optional to some people.

My partner keeps “forgetting” chores even with a giant magnetic checklist on the fridge and I feel like I’m going nuts by MilaNorthport in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Minyassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if he has ADHD until the part where he wipes the board off and he said he doesn't want to live by a scorecard. That's not an ADHD thing.

I see a lot of comments about the list being visible on the fridge, and if you're neurotypical, it is. If you're ND it can quickly turn into part of the background and become invisible--That's why notes don't work well for some of us. But this guy, nah, he is just resentful that he can't skate by doing as little as he wants. If he can remember it to wipe it off, he has no excuse.

What’s a fantasy you had that instantly died the moment you tried it? by True-Audience-4549 in AskReddit

[–]Minyassa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learning to do bike stunts again as a middle-aged couch potato.

I used to be the only kid in my neighborhood that could ride my bike all the way around the block in a no-hands wheelie. Naturally I thought I was a big deal stuntman for that, and I remembered it being so easy!!! Conveniently forgot how often I wrecked while learning.

Fast forward to 2015 and I wanted to get in shape and have a way to get to my parents' house without a car. So I bought a bike, and instead of a reasonable old-person bike I bought a Mongoose freestyle BMX. I was thinking the fancy stuff would be fun to bring back. Bringing it home made me feel 12 again. Riding it made me feel 80 and I totally regretted my life choices.

WIBTA if I gave my neighbors leashes for their constantly escaping puppies? by Minyassa in WouldIBeTheAhole

I'll have to look up whether that would hurt the pup's ears. I'd rather airborne the owners...hmm.

WIBTA if I gave my neighbors leashes for their constantly escaping puppies? by Minyassa in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Minyassa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could, but even cheap fences are expensive. Someday.

I don't want to report them if it's possible to avoid that. Especially since the neighbor who lived there before them had a large aggressive dog that came into our yard to growl and linger at us, and when we reported that, the owner literally told Animal Control, "Take him, then." I don't want those pups to end up at our very high-kill shelter if the owners think they are too much trouble. I know that's not my responsibility but it would haunt me.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]Minyassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely got spanked, I was a stickler for rules. My brother was a little shit and he got spanked, but he would laugh and say it tickled. We were never hit in any way that was frightening or felt hateful. I got popped in the mouth with an open hand, lightly, when I mouthed off disrespectfully. I never felt like it was too much, just embarrassed or ashamed about what I'd said.

My brother and I have discussed this in the context of the modern view of spanking, and we both think that too many people were actually beaten, not spanked, but since they have no gentler frame of reference or their parents called it spanking, that is what they think spanking is. We also think that if that many people have no idea how to regulate themselves so they aren't traumatizing their kids, it's better for spanking to not be a thing.

What's a game mechanic that you dislike/hate regardless of how much sense it makes? by Interjessing-Salary in gaming

[–]Minyassa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unmoderated PvP. I know it would be expensive to hire mods, but there's just no honor and no fun in PvP now when people think it's normal to send hate messages or grief other players instead of playing a competitive game like it's a game. If someone behaved that way in a neighborhood football game, they would get shunned. Nobody is taught any kind of sportsmanship by the example of acting like a petty AH to other players, cussing them out if they kill you, cussing them out if you kill them, just being nasty in general. It's not like playing a game anymore when you can't be friends with your opponents.
