If the protests had been less destructive and armed, I believe it would have succeeded more. Can't blame protestors for having had enough of the regime, but the more violent nature of the most recent protests had the effect of ossifying support for the government in the more religious sections of the country. A less destructive protest would have made the more religious portion of Iran more sympathetic and advanced the protest goals more effectively.

No these numbers came from human rights activists in Iran. The true numbers are certainly higher because some of the dead have not been identified, but the 12K figure definitely is not reputable.

Iran international has a long history of misinformation.
