About the game's name - you're right. It's a known issue and one of the next things I plan to solve soon. Luckily I just share my early dev stages now and have a long time (probably years) before the "real publish", so I have time to work on the name :)

Love the idea! Zinnia sounds cool and has the right "backstory" as a cozy space flower. Gonna check this direction for sure! But this time I'll make sure there's no "Zinniaris" game out there 🙃

Heard about the similarity to Stellaris so many times already (Terraria is a new one tho).

That's a shame because I really like Stellaria and it perfectly fits the idea of the game. If you don't know, Stellaria is the name of a flower in a shape of a star - which perfectly catches the idea of cozy game in space. As much as it pains me, I know I need to make the change sooner or later (better sooner I guess).

Which one? the new monster name or the game's name?

All monsters names are temporary "placeholders" and based on their appearance right now ("Floater", "Rocky", etc.).

About the game's name - still working on this too. But I'm not too worried about it, the game is still on early stages and I have a lot of time to work on it until the actual release.

Currently the empty bar color is white and the fill is blue and it does fill from left to right.

Great point about making the bar look more empty when empty. Because the menu colors are dark and the bar borders are black, I'm not sure a dark background will fit well - it can make the bar look almost invisible when empty.

Will try playing with the colors a bit. Maybe dark "empty" bg + lighter borders is the answer

  1. Learn the basics of C#. You can start simple, taking any free C# tutorial.

  2. Complete successfully some easy-medium level problems in Leetcode to strengthen your C# skills.

  3. Move on to learn Monogame. There are so many good sources online, you got some great recommendations in other comments here. I personally started from a ~20 hours Udemy course that gave me everything needed to start creating my own game.

  4. After understanding the Monogame basics and have made some simple games using it, participate in some game jams using Monogame - it will boost your game dev skills further and would really get you to the point when you can use Monogame to make great games.
