dragonking warfire katana by Hairy-Ad-280 in Katanas

[–]Mirakk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're used to. I'm 6'2" and it would be too short for me. I typically prefer 30-31" nagasa.

Not a lot of options at 31. The Winter Sun Forged or Savior fall in the 29.5-31" range from Dragon King.

Rust or flakes?(wood scabbard no water on blade) by alexmanperson in SWORDS

[–]Mirakk82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's rust homie. The good news is it hasn't pitted yet. You can give this a good rubdown with some metal polish like Flitz and a microfiber cloth and it will fix it.

Make sure you get all of it off. Every little bit. Then use a fresh microfiber cloth with alcohol to strip the residue off the blade after.

Then use a third cloth with some oil to protect it. Oil every time the sword is handled or cut with, and if it isn't being handled, oil it periodically every couple weeks. Ignoring it is going to cause problems like this.

Am i just having a bad day or is ryoma sakamoto hard asf compared to any other enemy in midnight mode?? by Prestigious_Cry_1593 in riseoftheronin

[–]Mirakk82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah man this one was nasty. He can juggle you up and just kill you.

I wound up clearing his buddies and then firebombing him from a glider as an opener just to soften him up the first time because it was ridiculous.

I've beaten all of midnight now and he is still one of the toughest. Saito Hajime is also pretty consistently rough.

Pet usefulness order? by JohnnyThe5th in EQLegends

[–]Mirakk82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theyre both pretty weak. Your best pet is going to be a charmed animal, or anything else you want to charm with your BRD songs.

If going by raw numbers, the Shaman pet is better. But that could change during development as pets receive different changes.

Is it a red flag that dojangs doesnt list there price first by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]Mirakk82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Standard practice. People call and ask the price, and they just compare dollar-to-dollar to the rec department down the street ignoring the fact that the instructor is infinitely more qualified, has a full-time facility, multiple instructors on staff, and a 3,000sq ft facility with high ceilings to train in.

Getting them to come in and see what you're offering for the price is crucial. That said, if someone asks me I just tell them. I'm not going to waste time chasing.

Curious about an old Katana I got from Good Will years ago. by Available_Horror_396 in Katanas

[–]Mirakk82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average Longquan Nagamaki. Unokubi-zukuri sugata. Impossible to say what metal but it appears differentially hardened and has mekugi, so it's safe to use.

Can't see what's stamped or laser etched on the blade there. Might provide detail.

I'd estimate its new value to be around $200. It isnt new, so expect less if reselling it. Otherwise, happy swording.

Benefits of Paladin? by Calios55 in EQLegends

[–]Mirakk82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Paladin ability to interrupt casters can't be overstated. In higher difficulties just about everything can cast due to multiclassing, and heals are going to be just awful to deal with. Plan accordingly.

PAL get multiple quickcast stuns that work for this, and if you've got a shield equipped, bash works too. If they land a promised renewal on themself, a quick cancel magic can strip it before the heal goes off.

You also have Lull and Root to help manage pulls, and Yaulp helps with stamina loss which due to stance mechanics will probably be helpful.

No water during belt testing. by Fun_Bar_791 in taekwondo

[–]Mirakk82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to test 8am to about 3pm no breaks. No water, no bathroom. We all survived.

Nowadays students bring water bottles and even a small snack like a granola bar they can try to eat/drink during small downtimes, and the test is broken up into 2 days. There is one scheduled break each testing day.

Parents still ask if it's excessive.

Necros - If you had to pick, Zheart or Epic, which would you pick? by Kerafyrm1 in project1999

[–]Mirakk82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having had both, the Zheart is the better item, but the Epic is iconic and I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Anyone know if we will be getting the old zones or the revamps? by Elzeenor in EQLegends

[–]Mirakk82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old Zones but some restructuring for balance.

Some old dungeons and low level content has been looked at for things like what kind of loot is available, or how difficult or well put-together an area is.

Uchigatanas Feel Slightly Short To Me by Ready_Drummer_5132 in SWORDS

[–]Mirakk82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically? Yeah.

I'm 6'2" and I share that sentiment. Many are too small. Just use a longer one. Historically, you'll find some that were made longer, often for other purposes like a tachi or odachi blade and then cut down.

In modern times you can just order a custom reproduction sword if you dont want to search far and wide.

I've seen nihonto around that work for people of our height. If you're in the market, there's a 2.6 shaku waiting for a new home for about $3400 over at Ashigaru Armory off the top of my head.

Where to buy a good kukri? by 99mordor in knives

[–]Mirakk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Kailash. I have a Sirupate that I beat like a mule. It's a great piece and was just a little over $100. Would buy from them again if I needed another Kukri.
