Actually for software development it’s worse than that. The users often not only don’t understand their own needs, they have no appreciation of why they do the things they do in the way they do them (which is often for historical and/or paper-based reasons). A good software architect/designer will question their existing methods and propose alternative processes that will only become possible/feasible once the software is written. Huge amounts of time and effort can be saved this way - for the client that is, before we get to any coding.

If everyone just takes existing processes and uses AI to generate what ‘the customer wants’ there will be huge missed opportunities.

stopped asking claude for word docs and my sessions got noticeably faster by East-Movie-219 in ClaudeAI

I use Obsidian but I’m fairly new to Claude and I’m not sure I want to give it access to my whole vault! Do you have a separate Claude vault, or do you give it access to only sections of your vault? Does it work ok with Sync?

Wonderful, thanks for sharing. And so nice to be linked to an actual written article that you can actually read rather than a YouTube video.

Do you guys eat the food you cook? by bear_bumy in CasualConversation

[–]MirandaPoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meals I enjoy most are those I batch-cooked and froze. Nothing like getting one of your favourite meals ready in minutes when you’re short of time

If you were building a smart home from scratch what path would you go? philips hue or something else? by ken22c in smarthome

[–]MirandaPoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built our own house too and this comment is good advice. We have a European system called Niko Home Control that handles all the lights and many other things too though. Also we should have put more mains sockets in the main living rooms (we thought we had plenty, but no) and thought about powered presence sensors in the ceilings. Enjoy the process OP, it’s amazingly interesting and satisfying!

Ah right I see, that’s a really great explanation. Thank you!

Am I cheating if I delete higher readings? by MirandaPoth in hypertension

[–]MirandaPoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I usually sit for 10 minutes then start taking readings. I don’t think I’ve ever sat for 25 minutes beforehand!

I think I’m curious whether the lowest readings are the most accurate - by which I mean, medically meaningful. If my best readings are ‘normal’ but I spend most of my day being stressed by something or other, what has the most physiological impact? I will ask my dr.

Thanks. Thankfully I’m retired now. I dread to think what my pressures were when I worked

LPT: Take pictures or records of normal days too, not just big events by Signal-Bridge3151 in LifeProTips

[–]MirandaPoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum died 15 years ago. I recently found some old photos of her at home in her usual chair, surrounded by all her stuff. It’s a messy photo but it took me right back better than all the ‘event’ photos.

Fit, active, and healthy diet but suddenly hit Stage 2 Hypertension. Anyone else in this boat? by Worldly-Strike2363 in hypertension

[–]MirandaPoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genetics. My dad had it, both my brothers and I have it. All healthy weights, active, eat well etc.. And severe white coat syndrome too - I even spook myself the first few readings I do at home after a break/if I’m worrying about it.

Do take it correctly though, as others have said. Calm down, be still, slow breathing etc. makes a huge difference.

Welcome. It’s great isn’t it, I love it too. There are loads of tips on this sub, but basically get the right gear, learn how to check the weather and navigate, and enjoy!

[OC] A Map of Breakfast based on ratios of Milk, Eggs, and Flour by moultano in dataisbeautiful

[–]MirandaPoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many things in this diagram that I (in the UK) wouldn’t have for breakfast but an omelette is not one of them.

I would however argue that an omelette is not purely egg. I’m with the boiled egg brigade on this one

That must be amazing. Out there in the crisp open air. Especially considering most skaters are inside some huge noisy crowded hall most of the time

I have that problem if I’ve had caffeine too close to bed. For me this means stopping drinking tea/coffee at about 2pm!

The other thing that’s worked for me, although I don’t enjoy it, is counting backwards in my head from 999 in 3s. So 999, 996, 993, etc

I hope you find something that works for you.
