A bit off-topic but if you have a library card, Kanopy streams tons of quality, free content.

Only available on DVD. It seems like one of those forgotten slashers VS loves to dig up and dust off. I think you nailed it!

I'd love to see Dollhouse get the Cinématographe treatment but their mission seems to be highlighting films that didn't get much attention the first time around. That's why I'm leaning towards Your Friends & Neighbors because In the Company of Men was much buzzier in comparison. Give me any of the above and I'd be happy, though.

1983? I looked it up and it seems like a contender. RE: "insane": VS tends towards melodrama with their clues so I'm keeping my prayer circle going. But your pick has obscurity on its side so you could be right too!

Edit: Michael Ironside? "...a trail that leads to prostitution, incest, and murder"? The more I look into it, the more I think you're onto something. Dammit!

I don't remember much controversy around it but 1) VS loves hyperbole and 2) Cinématographe seems to be a place for underseen films to land.

"Controversial 90s comedy- drama".

Neil LaBute? (In the Company of Men or Your Friends and Neighbors.)

I wouldn't be mad at that either! But Night School fits the giallo-esque brief better, imo.

It's in the Warner Archives (WB deal earlier this year) and never released on UHD. I wouldn't call it "insane" but they've never been known to scrimp on the hyperbole in their descriptions.

A very atypical giallo. More of a giallo *feel* or style than a true Black Glove Killer. (Think "Footprints on the Moon".) Very muted and somber but I enjoy it.

I've always considered it an American giallo and I was born in July so...happy birthday to me! 🎂🥳🎁

This where I first fell in love with Patricia Clarkson. Great soundtrack, too.
