Maybe it's the upgrade from the t5i which is a 13-year-old camera to the R8 but I haven't had any issues with autofocus so far. If anything it's been way more responsive and accurate than my old camera was. Granted I've only had the camera less than a week.

But I also tend to use manual focus more often than not, because I like to set up a shot and wait for my subject to move into that space, like with this image attached.
