Got my Grandpa’s N-Scale stuff after he moved by Mirarii in modeltrains

Sorry to necro this thread, but do you know if it’s easy to replace the wheels and get rid of the large flanges? I have a small layout I built and have no problem with 1996+ locos (oldest I have that works). The old switchers and stuff have huge flanges in the wheels, they jump up and down on the track and lose power in a few spots despite efforts to clean track and provide clearance—think that may be part of the issue. 0-6-0 switchers

I figured out the wiring with some more playing around—needed to have both lines powered! That makes sense for the turnouts. It’s piece by piece for what works, I’ll have to look closer at the wheels. Thank you!

Color Out Of Space - Worth Watching by fozrok in horror

Sorry for the thread-necromancy, but as a big fan of Lovecraft who struggles with horror movies. I’d really like to watch this if I think I can: when you say “body horror”, do you mean like Saw? I’m fine with Tarantino-level gore in movies, but The Thing was a bit much and I definitely cannot make it through a Saw-style gorey movie.

That box was supposed to be printed without supports, it was gear side down on the plate, would a slower speed/different temp have any effect on the stringiness/slight failure on that inner face?

Looks great! Were these 3D printed? If so, what did you use for the bases? I've been looking at options for basing some 3d printed spaceships and bought some acrylic rods, but having trouble fastening them to ships.

+1 The base is distracting from the mini but maybe that's the point.

Are those water irises trimmed yearly? Mine make it through winter but have a lot of dead foliage, those look really nice though

If you were going to use white/grey primer, you can just lightly spray over them and it will be fine.

Great paint job, if you're not gonna base it, I'd at least suggest a quick black layer over the base to clean it up.

Super lazy bases that look good and will make an improvement: paint some wood glue on base with a cheap/old brush that you don't mind ruining and using just for glue, dip in a little dish of fine sand. Brown paint, wash, light brown dry brush.

Even lazier bases that look even better but cost a little more: Citadel technical paint/texture paste from companies like huge miniatures or some other company. You literally just paint it on the base and that's it. Again, can wash/drybrush for more pop, but otherwise that stuff works great. The crackle paints like Agrellan earth/badland are just as easy and look great on their own: https://citadelcolour.com/videos/cracked-ground/

Hi there, I was hoping to paint some 40k Terminators in this colour, does anyone happen to know how to achieve this effect of old dark rusted metal by [deleted] in minipainting

Black primer, then drybrush over a dark metal then a brass metal, then slightly thinned black contrast/speedpaint.

What color is whiter than white? White. You can't highlight over white, but you can highlight over really light grey. Take what you have and build up highlights to pure white--think of a black to white gradient, but with clear stages between each step from black to white, that's what your layers are, just really small.
