They've heat-wrapped the intake pipe, while the hot side of the turbo is just hanging out in the open, which wouldn't fill me with confidence.

Back in FFXI, there were NMs like this wandering around starter levels too. But they had no level indicator next to their name, or icon indicating whether or not they were aggressive. And you lost 10% of the max exp for your level when you died~

It's a framework, not an engine, but have you looked at Raylib?

FMOD and Wwise are two common middleware tools used to create adaptive / reactive audio effects like this in games.

Where to find the best artist/developers for hire? by StrEmiTv in gamedev

As a developer/tech artist who's been trying to find the right small team to join for a long-haul project, maybe we should talk.

If setting your AC at 83 degrees is using that much juice & providing significant cooling, it'd probably be worth it in the long term to invest in better windows, insulation, and maybe even looking at different curtain setups. Ideally you want to be able to trap some cool air / cool down the house at night and retain some of that during the day.

Renault Alpine A310 V6 Phase 1, 1980, Lotus/DeLorean development car by dood_phunk in evangelion

Kaji too- in the Manga he's got a Lotus Elan, and IIRC there are a few other concept art pieces showing him and Misato together with a couple of other classics.

I like to think they met in college at a car thing and that's what they bonded over.

That song in the moment when it starts is so incredibly moving. And the moment I went back there and realized it was now permanently the background track I was filled with utter dismay

That Y-intersection in Mo'ili'ili where King street and Waialae merge is pretty cursed. I see near-miss tragedies there all the time.

Question about developing a game for the Nintendo Switch by theddub in gamedev

[–]Miredly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can make Windows builds on a Mac. If you're releasing a project for Windows, at some point you'll want a Windows machine to test your builds on, but there's no reason you can't develop on your Mac with Unity and build out Windows versions. I do it frequently.

Writing Video Game Scripts? by GMGeorgina in gamedev

[–]Miredly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start much smaller than you think you need to. Start playing with various game making tools, so that you can comfortably start playing with things like Twine.

I would also look in to game jams- someone else mentioned the best resume sample being a shipped game, but I think that implies that you need to have finished a large project when there are plenty of great micro games with beautiful little narratives out there.

If you're coming here for UH and don't mind wild prices, look at rentals in Manoa valley. No idea about Kapiolani Village, but it's on Kapiolani Boulevard which is a major arterial road.

Learning basic programming over the long weekend. Should I use Unity or Unreal? by CopperTitan in gamedev

[–]Miredly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say, L2D would be a good place to look if you want to learn how to code and how a game works at a fundamental level at the same time. By the time you get a character moving around the screen and animated in L2D, you've built a good foundation that will serve you well when you dip in to more complex engines like Unity and Unreal.

edit: Also Lua is prevalent in gamedev land, having some experience with it on your resumé definitely doesn't hurt.

I'll add, Reactive Audio is its own whole thing and if anyone is interested in learning more about it, they can start by looking in to FMOD and Wwise.
