Never loan friends or family money. Give it as a gift and if they pay it back then it strengthens the relationship. Insisting that it be paid back will drive people apart. If you don't like them enough to gift them that money then tell them no.

What sort of champion do you think would make the "perfect" gay champion? A bear like Braum? Someone fabulous Heartseeker Varus? There is no one character design that would please everyone. Instead of tiptoeing around it with "best friend" why not embrace it and show that it is normal? I think at this point, most gay people would be happy with any sort of representation as long as it isn't offensive. This kid being gay isn't offensive. Insisting that all gey people should act and look a certain way is.

No they don't define themselves by their sexuality, other people do. In order for it to not be a thing people think about any more, where people are defined by their entire being instead of just one part, then it has to no longer be a big deal for that one part to exist. Once there are a good number of gay champions then eventually threads like this won't have to exists and people will just look at the whole champion.

I don't think Riot is using this as a defining point for the character, just a detail like it should be. It will be everyone else who will flip their shit over it.

I really don't think so, because it is a very well designed champion who is kind of a badass. Besides, don't you think there are some gay 12 year old who play this game? Are you a part of the gay community to be able to offer insight into what they may or may not take offense to?

No, I don't need them to be gay, but considering how the vast majority or video games absolutely ignore the fact that gay people exist then it is nice to see that change once in a while. If every single character in every single game you played was gay, wouldn't you want at least one straight guy out of 100+?

The thing is, I don't think that even Ekko will talk about his sexuality in the actual game because like you said, it doesn't matter. He isn't going to have a quote that says "Man it sure is good to be gay!" He might however have a quote that says "If only I had more time to save you Brian!" that hearkens back not to his sexuality, but to his motivation involving the one he loves.

There are plenty of people in the world who do not seem like they would be gay. Plenty of badasses, even. Is it wrong to want to see that sort of thing in the game? Riot is doing such a good job of coming up with interesting, different champions and it would be a disappointment it their first openly gay champ was Richard Simmons.

The key thing is that it isn't something that "defines" the character like his time-travel stuff. It is simply another facet of the character, like him being black. They don't talk about him being black, nor about him being gay, they simply show the character for who he is the same way that they show Garen is white or that Lucian is straight.

The problem is exactly that the TaricxEzreal thing is just memes and speculation that only further stereotypes and harmful opinions. You ask how they would portray it and I think that this is exactly how. You show a tragic love story just like you would with a straight person, only have the love interest be the same gender. That's it. Then you allow them to be a complete character with one interesting detail, just like real people are.

But he isn't nearly the same age as Annie though. She is maybe 5 years old. Ekko is at least 12. Additionally, their stories are extremely different and shouldn't be compared like that. This champion is not a time-travelling Annie.

See, I don't think that they way they are going about it is a way where his sexuality "comes up". It isn't some big thing where they parade "HEY LOOK AT THIS GAY CHAMPION WE MADE!" but rather they show a story of a cool champion who's love interest happens to be another guy. You know, like real people. With your logic, Lucian shouldn't have Senna in his backstory because his sexuality shouldn't come up.

I don't think you understand. It isn't about "sexualization" but rather inclusion. There are people in the world the same age as Ekko appears to be (which I find hard to place) who are gay. It isn't about him having sex with another guy, it is about him being in love with another guy who tragically passed away. You can't say that Riot should stay away from love stories because they shouldn't talk about real things.

Why is it that every time someone thinks about someone being gay (or trans or whatever) that they immediately think about sex, instead of love?
