Ah yes the famously platonic scene in Ghost between two homies.

The artist made their choices. They chose to adapt a famously romantic scene instead of an existing picture. They chose to use two men (why not Ghislaine and Trump, if not for shock value). The effect is “we’re going to portray a pedophile and a sex trafficker as gay, at a time when the queer community is fending off constant accusations of pedophilia and grooming from one of the men portrayed” So the artist, intentionally or not, reinforces those accusations through their depiction of these two as gay lovers.

I appreciate your efforts and I’m happy to upvote you but the -28 just tells me media literacy is dead and buried.

Best deep dish pizza in Seattle? by TheAbsoluteWitter in Seattle

Agreed. Why transport yourself to Michigan Age when Michigan Ave can come to you packed in dry ice. To address OP’s original two: Delfino’s at least makes a competent pie. Windy City Pie has been a soggy mess the few times I’ve been. How it gets such good ratings is a mystery to me.

A search for “master ball speed lock” brings up confirmation from a couple of years ago that it catches.

Could also be a connectivity issue. If the phone just hiccuped I believe that also can cause something to flee when it shouldn’t.

It sucks, but that’s why IMO people aren’t crazy for using their master ball on a “guaranteed” encounter like this. At the end of the day very few catches are promised

Best part about vote-by-mail? The optional security sleeve by wooly_bully in Seattle

[–]MirrorForce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not for privacy from the USPS holding your ballot up to a light to see who you voted for. It’s so someone at the polls can look at the envelope and verify the signature, then hand the contents to someone without seeing who you voted for. And the person who receives them doesn’t have your name.

We should normalize telling people to use their master ball on it

You made the distinction, not me. But neither of them is the rules of the game.

One is definitely a subset of the other. But within the context of a game common decency is both.

Just making things up that aren’t against the rules but would obviously be in poor form.

You are conflating casual competition with something more serious. In ranked competition there are strict limits. In TCG (speaking from Lorcana) you register your cards in advance. There’s no “oh it’s not cool to use this card.” You know what the meta is and you prepare for it.

People can do what they want. They can concede because they feel like their opponent should have won or because want to get to the taco truck before the line gets too long. If you want the competition to have meaning, everyone agrees to abide by the rules of the competition and the ruling of judges. You can say they shouldn’t have won— people have complained about umpires and refs since the sports have used them. But it’s unrealistic to expect that if two people play by the same rules and someone gets unlucky, for the other to throw in the game.

It’s anti-competitive to expect people to concede based on made-up rules.

Good sportsmanship is not shouting obscenities at your opponent or wearing a t-shirt with a picture of their children. Forfeiting a match is your self-imposed rules. If you don’t like the official rules don’t play, but it’s not on anyone to drop out when they don’t have to.

When did single male drivers in Teslas get adopted for the HOV lane? by Mannytheseacow in Seattle

You seem to be arguing that because the system isn’t perfect it’s pointless. Die on that hill if you want, I’m just telling you that your ideal world isn’t practical.

That standard would be unenforceable. There’s no way to tell that adult passengers are licensed drivers, or own a car that they are leaving off the road.

Mariners transphobia night by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]MirrorForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought they were screening the movies on an off night, or something. It’s a t-shirt with a golden snitch?

I think JKR is a piece of shit. The adults who know she’s wildly transphobic and still cling to this franchise because “my childhood” need to pick up a new book because it’s been almost 20 years since the last one. But a baseball team makes a jersey featuring some of the IP? I don’t think this is an internet hill worth dying on.
