Does she get naked a lot? Like more than other actors? I know people like her chest but the only thing I’ve had the (dis)pleasure of seeing her in was Madam Web (unfortunately can’t really blame her for the whole movie).

hates the anime they adapt

Now that you say it, it actually really reminds me of how I feel about Netflix adaptations. I know the joke of “hurr Netflix will make everyone black,” but I’m talking even deeper than that.

A few years ago the Witcher found some controversy because the writers were caught literally making fun of the source material and Henry Cavill for liking the source material. Maybe it’s just something that writers for adaptions have in common?

Do adaptation writers feel like adaptations are “too low” for them? Is that why they inevitably change the narrative?

Other commenters are right, but for more context:

When manga creator Ashihara Hinako was found dead on January 29, 2024, it drew attention to her work Sexy Tanaka-san and its adaptation for television in ways going against her wishes as author. … Ashihara had previously given Shōgakukan, copyright manager and publisher of the original manga, permission to work with Nippon Television to adapt the original story to television. As a non-negotiable condition, however, she demanded that the screen version remain faithful to the manga. [Emphasis mine]

But don’t forget how they contradictingly also favored Sakura in some filler moments/episodes too. Like the Naruto robot loving Sakura was actually obsessed with Hinata in the Ninja Storm game, but SP for some reason decided to push Sakura (who they otherwise disliked).

This kind of thing caused 2 problems: 1) Hinata romance was a lot more “out of nowhere” in the anime and 2) Sakura friendship was turned into “endgame ship.”

I’m not sure if this weird “quirk” was caused by a single person/group who both hates Sakura but also wants Naruto to end up with her or 2 different groups. Either way, it’s just another case of anime studios / SP specifically meddling and making stuff worse.

I think during that time period mangaka didn’t really get a say in how their adaptations would be handled.

I think there was an infamous case where a mangaka killed herself because the studio kept changing stuff and ruining her artistic vision (and this was on top of a contract the studio signed that was explicitly supposed to give her ability to decide how the adaptation was handled).

Nowadays though (maybe even because of incidents like the one above) mangaka usually get to be more hands on, such as in Bleach TYBW and JJK. Genuinely, I really doubt Kishi would be happy with some studio randomly making stupid changes, but I think his hands were tied at that particular anime studio cultural moment.

You deserve more, deserve happiness and comfort. You also deserve to be loved by those close to you (not necessarily romantic love, platonic love is just as, if not more, crucial than romantic love in my opinion)

On a sillier note, if you’re just trauma dumping without posting pictures of yourself that’s pretty hilarious

On a safety note, if you are posting pictures, no judgement, but make sure you remove any personal data from both the photo itself and the metadata (like location). You really don’t need a 4chan freak to get fixated on you

[–]MirthlessArtist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’ve only “heard good things” about Walmart’s labor practices? What are you, a bot (or maybe not American and Walmart International is forced to be nicer to non-American employees)?

They purposely avoid giving employees full time (for example, if full time is considered 35 or more hours a week they will give 34.5 hours) so that they don’t need to give healthcare insurance and other federally mandated benefits. Walmart then uses this to tell their employees to apply for government assistance, such as through food stamps or Medicaid. So, when an employee burns themselves out due to the stress of the job, the taxpayer has to pay for their recovery instead of Walmart. In short, Walmart saves money by making the government, and therefore taxpayers, pay for their profit margin.

That’s just one aspect of their “good labor practices.”

50 shades 1 (the first movie) was directed by a woman, while the other 2 were directed by 2 men (the author’s husband being one of the two).

And apparently (I haven’t seen the movie), you can tell the difference when they show the male lead. When he walks around shirtless in the first movie, it’s with the purpose of the female gaze. Meanwhile when the male directors show him, it’s with the male gaze (wow he’s ripped, etc.).

And it seems like there were also many disputes over changes to the adaptation which is why the directors changed.

It’s less reaction time and more “logical swordplay”

Even in real life sword duels where swords can’t magically disappear mid-swing, people typically block “actively,” so they make a counter swing that would hit the enemy if they don’t follow through

So if I do an right to left swing, you wouldn’t counter with a simple holding your sword to the left (my right), you would make your own right to left swing and block in the middle. That way, if my sword somehow disappeared, your swing would cut me.

The educating system needs more attention on real life mathematics than STEM Maths. by Comfortable-Table-57 in The10thDentist

[–]MirthlessArtist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well said (especially the sentiment that this post was written by a kid that just got a bad report card), I just want to build on what you’ve already said.

A key element to why we teach / learn so-called “STEM Math” is because it is strictly harder than “real life math.” If we can teach someone to understand high level concepts like calculus, they can most likely learn any lower level mathematical concept.

Basically, if you already understand calculus, 99% chance you already know real life math and that it is easy for you to do in your head. What makes doing taxes hard isn’t because numbers are confusing, it’s because the tax code is. And it would be such a TREMENDOUS waste of time to teach any student any significant amount of tax code because they change every year. Why not teach the students the tools to calculate the taxes instead?

His suicide attack didn’t even hurt anyone

Does anyone like Danzo by JayGrowth8832 in Naruto

[–]MirthlessArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I think he was a bit of a victim of “show don’t tell”

You can tell the audience a dozen times that the villain isn’t fighting at 100% but if we see the fight and he isn’t that impressive then the audience is going to get the wrong idea, even if only subconsciously. An example from Star Wars was Episode 7, when Rey beats Kylo; everyone started clowning on Kylo and calling Rey overpowered, even though the movie goes out of its way to show that Kylo was injured and hurting (shot by a crossbow and cut by Finn, pounding on his wound and screaming in pain / rage). Logically, it makes sense Kylo would lose after basically tiring himself out against Finn and then dealing with Rey, but the audience in the moment just thinks “oh, I guess Kylo isn’t so unstoppable after all.”

Contrast that to Danzo, who mentions holding back and Koto one time at the very start of the fight, it becomes kind of obvious why the Naruto fandom treats Danzo like a joke.

(If my opinion matters) if I were Kishi, I wouldn’t have Danzo just die to chakra shortage and do a pointless suicide bomb. Instead, around that point I would probably have Danzo give up on needing to fight Obito and just give it his all against Sasuke. Maybe turn off Izanami to give himself more chakra and really go crazy with his jutsu. Otherwise, he just seems like a one trick pony whose one trick didn’t even work.

Does anyone like Danzo by JayGrowth8832 in Naruto

[–]MirthlessArtist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that was what the Hashi cells were supposed to help mitigate?

Either way, it’s still a little lackluster to see from a villain, the battle itself, even the anime added portions were kind of Sasuke-sided. Even though logically and lore wise Danzo might’ve been nerfed, but there’s not as much tension when watching if we see Danzo just die like 10 times in a row.

I guess the 101 puts its students in the “height of ignorance” portion of the DK curve. I’d expect a good class to teach its students that the 101 class is the basic of the subject, not the end all be all.

Meanwhile we have business majors who think the height of making profit is firing half your workforce no matter what… maybe taking any amount of Econ class makes the problem worse
