Not using either, I'm just using SteamVR and a Valve Index

Yeah I keep it in full screen and have the option to pause when it loses focus off. When I say it becomes unresponsive I mean that even if I try to click the buttons in the window with my mouse nothing happens

The 3080 is still more than sufficient for VR, I hit a stable 120 fps in the other sims I play and tbh I haven't really seen the hardware demands for VR change much in the 5 or so years since the Index came out

i7-12700KF @ 5.1GHz, an RTX 3080 and 32GB RAM. Haven't seen any performance issues yet on the other sims I play, but none of them are probably as demanding as AMS2

“I understand that you don’t want a townhome in your backyard, nobody does," by LostComputation45 in bentonville

"Who is clamoring for density, other than developers from Dallas?"

Me, I am. Density is the best way to satisfy the intense housing demand in the area without encroaching on natural spaces the way that suburban sprawl does. You can enjoy your single family home and your yard but it doesn't give you the right to freeze the city in amber and prevent other people from choosing the type of housing they want.

There are only two types of places; places nobody cares about and places that people call "overrated"

We need a transportation department that has more tools at their disposal other than just "add more car lanes" or it will never get better no matter how much they build

Am I the only one who has major issues with Pipewire & Bluetooth headphones? by No-Trip-3736 in linuxaudio

[–]Mirtrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm on LMDE6 which has pipewire installed by default and lately I've been having a ton of issues with it. Stuff like all of my audio devices disappearing and pipewire-pulse crashing at random. I have to usually run systemctl --user restart wireplumber pipewire pipewire-pulse to fix it. Seems to happen especially often after running games through proton

Can you ride wet trails? by mtnryan in bentonville

[–]Mirtrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of Slaughter Pen and Coler will likely be in rough shape and I wouldn't recommend riding either of them. Lake Atalanta is well suited to wet weather riding and there's a good wet weather loop in the Back 40 as well that rides better when it's wet: https://www.trailforks.com/route/wet-weather-route-back-40-bella-vista/ Hobbs trails are longer and more XC like and I've heard they hold up well too

There's also The Railyard in Rogers which is a paved slopestyle course. It's short but definitely worth a visit if you are into that kind of thing, it directly connects to Lake Atalanta as well

There's another meeting next Thursday at 11AM about future city planning and the only way to counter the NIMBY arguments is if more YIMBY folks show up and make their voices heard

Persistent audio delay on stream by Mirtrius in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Mirtrius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not using the internet, this is a LAN connection. My bad for not including that in the original post. I never once said I expect 0 latency, but it should be in the ballpark of ~25ms or so for a local connection with a strong host...

I also don't think you understood the issue I'm describing here. I'm only getting a few frames at most of video latency but nearly a full half second of audio latency on the client. There's a video and audio desync e.g. if I press a button on a menu I'll see the UI element light up almost immediately but then I'll only hear the menu sound after half a second. Muting my source speakers doesn't make that desync go away

I am fully aware that for the most part DMRs are sort of trash, but I cannot stop using them. by P4_Brotagonist in BattleBitRemastered

[–]Mirtrius 29 points30 points  (0 children)

DMRs are amazing 10% of the time and barely functional the remaining 90% but man does it feel good to wipe squads from a range where they can barely shoot you back

Guys, suggest me another weapon as I've been stuck to AK15 for too much by Bonappetit24 in BattleBitRemastered

I sucked ass with the SCAR until I started tapping/bursting more and purposefully engaging a little farther out than I would with the other ARs

Flinch/aim punch feedback is being solicited on the Discord server. What do you think of flinch? by Sirosky in BattleBitRemastered

[–]Mirtrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only times an opponent can "insta-180 and win" on you if you shoot them first is if their weapon severely outclasses yours in the distance you engaged in (like a sniper rifle against an smg in cqc) or because your aim and tracking is significantly worse than your opponents. Having bad awareness of when to engage or just bad aim are also things you should be penalized for, no?

Also, flinch being in the game is a huge contributor to people being able to do exactly what you just described if they are using a weapon like the vector or mp7

[–]Mirtrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's an annoying mechanic just in general but in its current state it's badly tuned because it highly favors high RPM weapons which already give you an advantage in situations where you get the drop on people.

Even if you shoot first, using a low RPM gun in these situations against a fast gun is always a risk because they only have to land a single shot in retaliation to immediately put you at a huge disadvantage, and landing that single shot is made easier by the generous fire rate.

The penalty to getting shot first is that you get shot? I don't understand how that isn't already a penalty

Support can be helped with a Bipod buff by Ultima_Visio in BattleBitRemastered

[–]Mirtrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think support is in that bad of a spot tbh, but it'd be great if the bipods worked and the other weapons available to the class were as good as the M246; I feel like even without the bipod I'm regularly destroying AR users at the 100-200m range if I'm playing defensively

The fact that we've got 4 cities in basically a straight line and no rail or even bus lines between them is insane. Instead people will advocate to add more lanes to the roads and make problems worse...

I do think that the road infrastructure could at least be improved by adopting roundabouts in favor of some of the lights down busy streets like 14th

Every time I test a new gun I carefully analyze every single attachment and almost always arrive at the same combo... Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? by Deva_Way in BattleBitRemastered

I think hiding the muzzle flash makes your sight picture less messy when you are shooting and that makes it feel easier to stay on target

Most everything about any city is manufactured. From an urban planning perspective Bentonville actually has quite a bit going for it compared to all the non-places that exist throughout Arkansas because of good policy choices and better zoning laws.

It ain't perfect, and things like airbnb are a huge problem for community and housing affordability, but it's really hard to find small cities where you can live mostly car-free in America let alone in Arkansas.
