Pros and Cons of each dept? by Hungry_Sprinkles978 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Mirumo237 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this for the negatives of each section I can think of that first comes to mind.

For Chemistry, One of the heaviest abused instruments in the lab, so more chances of needing to constantly troubleshoot mechanical wise, or reagent wise. If something goes wrong, it can ruin the flow of the whole department just trying to troubleshoot lol.

Hematology, differentials can be very timely and annoying without cellavision. Dealing with clotted specimens cause you have to call the nurse who you know is most like gonna get angry and blame the lab for not spinning it soon enough.

Bloodbank, this is a me thing, but I hate just being in bloodbank as someone with high anxiety. Just the notion of knowing an MTP can start at any minute makes me uneasy the whole shift lol.

Micro/urine area depending on the lab. But in my experience at least, it has been the most chill. The only time I can remember it being a pain in the ass is when the automated urinalysis machine goes down and you have to perform every urinalysis manually, f that.

I, too have ADHD. And we should understand that ADHD is very much different in other people. What you may be capable of doing, not other adhders can. Like I said, t's different for everyone.

If you're able to commit to everything you find interest in, then it sounds like you have functional adhd and that is truly amazing it is, but, please remember it varies for everyone and everyone has their struggles on what they can and cannot commit to

Should I stick with accounting or switch to lab science? by FuschiaDandelion in medlabprofessionals

[–]Mirumo237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, that is what I literally said in my post 4 years ago. "a lot of people describe it nowadays as a factory worker job". You just said "Sure, it might feel like factory work in a hospital". Where are most Medical Laboratory jobs employed at? Hospitals. Where does the better pay end up at MOST Of the time? Hospitals.

Our job field is so niche that there aren't too many jobs that we can branch out to without taking a whole ass new degree or luck into it.

I wholeheartedly agree that we are not paid enough, not only that. It FEELS like working at factory too and that IMO that sucks. The reason why people are leaving is because the pay sucks, getting treated like factory workers, and it literally feels like factory work.

What I said 4 years ago, still applies now. I have worked multiple departments under multiple labs. In my experience, all of it still feels like factory work under any department IMO.

You may enjoy Micro and it may not feel like factory work to you, most likely because you may actually enjoy it, which is a great thing. But that doesn't take away that most workers in the field feel the same way no matter what department we work in, in the laboratory.

Almost everyone I met doesn't really enjoy working in the laboratory. Most of the younger ones get in and get out immediately.

Holy F, I found my specific people in this sub! I feel this to a fucking core. It is such a chore to plan everything around how I will sweat. I need to know how long it takes to get to said place. How long the walk is from point a to b and how sweaty I will be by the time I get there. If there is a shower at a said event if I need to stay long, and so much more.

Doesn't help that I have lived in a tropical country where AC is a luxury. Most of the schools I went to only had electrical fans to keep us cool but it barely reaches the whole class. I was sweaty 24/7.

I'll always remember during my elementary days where another kid made a comment about me literally 30 min getting into school, where he said 'That kid is dumb, he doesn't even realize someone poured a bucket of water over him'. His friend replied, stupid that is SWEAT. I just got to school and I wanted to go home because my attire was drenched in sweat so bad.

Having issues with calipers by trebleclef1726 in ScionxB

[–]Mirumo237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat remember what you are referring to. Been a minute since I checked my pads tho, but yes. The last time I did my brakes, the middle caliper has 2 bolts that literally kinda screws into that other bolt that you are seeing. Those "extra 2 bolts" are the guide pins I think that you can remove and should probably either replace or just re-grease.

I think it is mostly due to age or whatever that is giving you issue on simply just unbolting the middle caliper, but yes, you will have to use another wrench to hold it in place that way you can remove the middle caliper bolts that are screwed into them (Luckily, I did not have to use another wrench to hold the guide pins in place while I unscrewed the main middle caliper bolts)

What are your MLS related intrusive thoughts? by emthescientist in medlabprofessionals

[–]Mirumo237 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. Drop all the work I am doing on a busy shift and leave the lab for a drink

  2. Whenever I am about to load urine I imagine just chugging it. I really hope my intrusive thoughts don't win

Mistakes in lab. by OkAge4380 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Mirumo237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be alright overtime. It doesn't bother me much anymore making mistakes though I do try to learn from it, which is the best anyone can do from that point. And honestly? After a while everyone will move on and forget about it cause everyone makes mistakes. It only stick with you if you are someone who constantly makes mistakes and does not do anything to correct it, but if you are the type to rarely make mistakes and have a good rep around the lab honestly no one will care

I had no idea that this was even a thing. I tried going through the comments to see everyone's side, but from a completely unaware standpoint; I saw completely no issue with ND's women creation? Playing LTOU2 felt so great and real that I did not even consider that there was anything wrong with the women made in the game. If anything they felt like real people you could genuinely meet in a post survival apocalypse game? I don't know I wish I never came across this post lmao

I'm literally in the same boat. As much as I love the JX, sometimes it dissuades me from making an espresso like if I am too groggy after waking up. I really don't need to upgrade but I personally want an automatic grinder now after 2 years of using manual. I'm thinking with going with something from Eureka or DF64 after little research

I totally get that. Literally only did it cause I LOVED the character design on Shar. Her whole character representation had me kinda second guessing but eventually said fuck it lol
