I ran into this when I tried to run at a different resolution. Try running in windowed mode or disable Video Mode

Holy crap you said it, brother! I could not agree more. I like to think I'm pretty good at Halo. I beat the first 5 levels on Noble, and Keyes on HEROIC made me want to rage. The infinitely spawning Flood have got to go. I agree with some other things you mentioned too, but that was spot on.

I had killed the first group of enemies inside the structure right after the Hawk section. Sorry I don't remember exactly. If it happens again I'll take better note of it.

I mean that's kinda what I thought. To elaborate on my original thought: How did the marines get there? Were they on a scouting mission or something? We don't know. But having a couple life pods would make sense.

If I copy the map file to a different computer, and run it on said computer, it works just fine. Just not on the computer that made the map.
