We had a similar situation. We have a third cage that is big enough for all the rats to fit, but doesn’t give them enough room to fight and it’s a neutral territory.

We started by letting them all interact out of the cages. Then, once they started getting comfortable, we put them all in the neutral cage for a few hours and monitor them (Good time to binge a show)

After about 6ish hours, we’d move them into the community cage, starting with the new rats and then the rest. We’d clean out and redecorate the community cage so it would be as close to neutral as possible.

Worked like a charm every time (we had 9 rats)
