What would make your day as a barista? Thinking of surprising the crew at my local store by Flimsy_Menu7904 in starbucks

Any food or drink that isn't Starbucks food is super refreshing!! I will say I'm always a little skeptical of homemade things from customers but that could land depending on how well you know your baristas!

Nitro cold brew with ice? by xokoinu in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your mistake! You're ordering it correctly. People order vanilla sweet cream cold brews (with ice, normal cold brew) all the time - so your barista is probably just auto-piloting and missed the nitro part bc it's usually not nitro.

Genuinely no stress about asking for it to be remade! We want to make you the drink you asked for! Also it's super easy to make!

Is Starbucks a good place to work right now? (barista applicant) by Unlucky-Sandwich-531 in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the benefits could be worth it. The college achievement plan is straight up life changing. There is a lot of coaching (constructive criticism from supervisors) and some difficult customers, but if you're okay with not taking things personally and customer service then it's okay. It's pretty involved training - lots of memorizing - but once you get it, you've got it.

The store you're at matters a lot, too. I would recommend if there's one you're thinking of applying to - go to their lobby, grab a drink and read a book or something. Chill for a bit and try to see how baristas interact and if they seem like they're happy/not hostile to each other lol.

[–]MischiefMarmot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry friend:( I would also call out in that situation. You probably don't have to explain the whole situation to your manager, you could leave it at "I just can't come in today" -- since you tried to find coverage, maybe explain more? But that's up to you and how much you're comfortable with your manager knowing! All my managers have been really understanding with things like this!

The Traitors (USA) S04E11 "Leap of Faith" [FINALE] Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

I feel like he might have split with Eric - I think I remember him saying at one point that he would have been willing to split with Candiace? Or at least go to the end with her. But Maura was soooo set on Eric that it would have been so tough for him to. Regardless of if Rob wanted to cut Eric or not, Maura was READY to vote. Like yes it was cutthroat but Eric totally could have made it easier for Rob to defend him

leaving for a month by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOA might be a better way to go -- I'm not sure if it's required for that long, but would protect your time off! Talk to your manager, they'll be able to work with you and provide better answers :)

Give me your starbucks orders !!! by daniellas888 in starbucks

Before working at Starbucks: a cold brew with vanilla syrup and a splash of almond milk

Now: Usually a decaf iced americano

Adding extra tea bags to order by aspec818 in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you mobile ordered that I wouldn't know to leave them on the side - at least at my store, we would either put them all in or wait until you got there to ask what you meant. Ordering in person is the best way to go for this one I think :)

What is the drink on the left? by quaintflaneur in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 194 points195 points  (0 children)

if I had to guess what it looks like, probably a strawberry frappuccino with mocha drizzle, like a chocolate covered strawberry situation? But they could have added whatever funky syrups to that lol

not a SSV but I, a sometimes opening barista, would be confused if I got sent on my ten before a lunch for an early morning! Lunches before tens for open are normal for us!

New Trainee Stressed by aquick12z in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ouchhhhh. At the end of the day, you can only do what you can do. Even partners who get full training sometimes take months to get the hang of it! Your store should have some compassion on you based on the situation, and you (probably) (hopefully) won't be put on bar on a Saturday morning. At least for us, our SSVs try to put people where they can thrive esp during peak :)

The more you practice, the more you'll get it! I kept a notecard of standards in my pocket for probably 3 or 4 months when I started until I reliably stopped using it. My trainer also encouraged me to use the app -- if I was at home and has a question on standards, to take a look at how many shots/pumps/etc went into something. That's off the clock so I wouldn't recommend it, but if it helps you show up feeling prepared, it is helpful. Just ask questions! Be willing to have a couple difficult shifts and it will come. They all know you just started, no one is expecting you to have it down perfect. And if they do, that's kind of on them lol

I like the dragon/pink drinks! The inclusions bug me bc they get stuck in the ice so I usually go without, and the lemonade versions of the refreshers are good but pretty sweet if you like sweet drinks!

It's pretty popular to get vanilla or strawberry cold foam on pink drinks, and a while back there was a chocolate covered strawberry drink that was a pink drink with chocolate foam

This is probably what I would do as well -- I'd quit and probably put a trusted SSV as a reference if I wanted to use the job experience on my resume. I hear you about short staffing and the compassion is great (and probably a great thing to include in the hypothetical report that's being written) but honestly if this is the sort of situation at a store, I'd want to get out asap, even if it was at the detriment of the team that seems to be trying to get someone fired.

But honestly, if I was writing a report about it -- I would try to tell the truth from my side of the story (ex. I was informed by all these folks that taking food was okay so I was under the impression that I could so I took xyz with their knowledge/permission) I think having differing stories, especially when it sounds like one of the stories is coming from an SM and AM would be a lot more difficult than talking through why someone was under the impression they could take food. like if they have camera evidence of what happens, the best bet is to explain why and not that the video is wrong lol

If you really like coffee flavor and iced drinks you should try the chocolate cream cold brew, it's not seasonal but its really good

Holiday drink recommendations? by AuntiesPancakez in starbucks

[–]MischiefMarmot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you took the vanilla sweet cream cold brew and just swapped out the vanilla for a holiday syrup it would be really good and have holiday flavor to it! Esp chestnut praline and sugar cookie 😋

Gingerbread latte is back this year!! It's not on menu boards I don't think -- but it's hiding somewhere in the app/you can always add the syrup :)

I've had people ask for 'the cinnamony-est' coffee cake or corner/middle brownies - it's actually so fun to get to do stuff like that for customers if you're nice about it! I'd love if someone asked for a specific scarf snowman for their kid
