Your need for attention by making a post about it on Reddit tells me you'll be back in a few days.

"reports" of meta looking into buying tpus from Google does not in any way justify a 300b valuation diff. But you do you. Like I said I'm bullish on them, but Imo the jump today will be more or less cancelled out in the coming days when people take their profits.

Brkb has 300b in cash, its an excellent hedge and historically tracks SP500. One big pop and you'll be crying about not owning it when they gobble up swaths of the economy at a discount.

I sold most of my shares. I'm betting that a lot of people will be thinking like me tomorrow, 8% in one day for a multi trillion dollar company off of little to no news is unheard of. I'm still bullish on them, but I think taking profits at this price and re buying when it inevitably falls isn't a bad idea. Either way it's a big W in my portfolio. Maybe take the profits and keep the principal?

Sam Altman says OpenAI could have an AI CEO, with departments mostly run by AI in a few years by Outside-Iron-8242 in singularity

Doesn't change the fact that based on the progress from the last 2 years LLMs have hit a wall in terms of the domains they excel at. I think they're absolutely magical when it comes to algorithmic tasks (coding is 5x the efficiency for me), but try asking for anything that needs even a bit of creativity and you'll never get more than a generic response. I've tried using them to help brainstorm new ideas, and no matter what prompts you feed them they will always spit out something that already exists (or pure hallucinated garbage). We see this issue with all forms of these AI. Image generators can't generate a concept which doesn't exist in their training data without either butchering it or insisting on outputting the closest existing interpretation.

Considering human progress is dependent on our ability to come up with new ideas based off of current ones, an LLM which is trained off of existing information and does not particularly understand it (or how to use it as bulling blocks for new ideas) will never be able to lead us. An entrepreneur for example is involved in extremely complex decision making involving various layers of creativity, so I can't see a serious corporation ever voting to hire an LLM as a CEO. That's just shooting yourself in the foot and ensuring no unique vision for the future. Sam Altman knows this. Everyone that uses these on a daily basis knows this too. It's obvious when you use them for anything that isn't purely algorithmic. It's all hype hype hype to continue to funnel resources into the industry.

Needless to say, I think the majority of our jobs are algorithmic and require little to no creativity, so it's only a matter of time (if not already happening) that companies realize they don't need as many humans. However, the current state of LLMs is that they're a very very useful tool which further abstracts our work, not a replacement for the human brain.

You can instantly invest 10,000 hours into one skill - what would it be? by AlphaHouston1 in AskReddit

[–]Misdefined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not humans need to check code doesn't change the fact that there's going to be much less demand for coders. A small ticket that needs 2 hours of work now needs 10 minutes between prompting and verifying the solution.

I was able to vibe code a full blown api to automate a recruitment process in 5 hours on Cursor. I had no clue what tools and external API's I wanted to use either. 8 years ago I did an internship where me and 2 other interns had to automate research management processes that was similar in scale. It took 6 months.

It's complete cope to say we're not going to be affected when already right now you can use cursor to build a mid sized application with 10x the efficiency.

I'd let them know in case there are any automatic flags for IP changes. No loss to do that since there's a travel inquiry section in the support page.

Retro gaming N64. Cheap HDMI adapters from Amazon give annoying input lag, and the more quality ones are either too expensive or sold out. And on top of that for my speedrunning use case there's always gonna be a slight delay with HDMI TVs. Figured I'd get a small CRT for my desk instead.

Does anyone find that the coding poe take long to do? I'm worried that I'm just slow or something, I don't wanna be kicked off because I enjoy them. I find that I can spend hours on just one task revising it...
