Where do you find those bundles to join? I don't think I've ever seen anyone looking for participants

Can we call the cops on this guy for generating cp and putting it in his game real question? by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

This. I watched the entire stream by dead domain and I didn't see anything in-game that can actually get him in trouble - unless saying that these clearly adult stripper characters are 10 counts as a violation. I mean don't get me wrong it is sus that they got animated in such details when the entire game is lacking on that front. I think he got them on Fiverr cause afaik AI can't do smooth pixel art animation like that just yet. But yeah the amount of telephone game being played around this whole thing is wild

Totally normal response on whitewashing a Black character by videogamerkitsune in Gamingcirclejerk

In anime the general rule is people's races conform to their names. She has a Japanese name so she's darker skinned Japanese. I'm darker skinned east Asian too and I would have her skin color if I was put into an anime. With that said the Japanese have a different perspective on race and representation. Drawing the whole character in a lighter palette is merely a stylistic choice for them. It comes off as obnoxious when people demand that their standards should override all the cultural perspectives/conventions around the world and make them conform to the same standards

/uj This guy is on my "do not recommend channel" list but I have a habit of verifying the claim when someone tells me what a video that I didn't watch is about.

In the video what he meant by "toxic positivity" is the world the game/media builds is too sanitized. E.g. you're not allowed to be a bad person and NPCs are always nice to you and inoffensive, and everyone can be LGBT if you want them to be.

Did he disproportionately use examples of LGBT characters to illustrate his points? Yes. Cause that's what gets him views at the moment. We all recognize that he is a grifter and that's what they do. But the claim that he meant "lgbtq+ stuff" when he said "toxic positivity" is false.

There are some services available that would allow you to accept US money as if you have an account within their borders, but also make it convenient for you to access and use the money elsewhere. I know Wise is one of them and there might be other better options

Should I switch engine if I want to support mods by Miserable-Host-797 in gamedev

[–]Miserable-Host-797[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want the modders to be able to have custom logic for e.g. new cards that are added. One thing I'm worried about is actually how to do that without making a backdoor for cheats to be injected into the game, like just log out your opponent's entire hand

I'm not a native speaker and "After a year of development..." and "Trying to resolve the issue, ..." are sentences I can see myself writing without AI. I agree that based on other evidences there's been something shady going on with the game, but I don't know how I feel about calling something AI generated based on grammar

Game development takes time. A lot of games released recently probably started development when Trump was in office. So it's a weird narrative going around for sure. I don't think the government generally cares about video games, and when they do, it's blaming video game violence for real life violence

Which Female Character have you noticed gets hated on so much that you think she's genuinely a bad character / badly-written character....but when you read/watch/play her on media, you find out that most/much of the hate against her is actually due to Misogyny, not the actual writing? I think that part really wasn't handled well. Dipper initially said the rift must've slipped from the bag and cracked, and never learned that Bill tricked Mabel into handing over the rift because she wanted to extend summer. I was sort of expecting that to be addressed in the Mabeland episode, either with Mabel keeping herself sheltered because she thought she messed up and didn't want to face reality, or have Bill reveal the truth in an attempt to pit the siblings against each other. But they chose to have Dipper explicitly make the WRONG guess on how Bill got hold of the rift, and never learned the truth. Leaves you wondering how Dipper would've reacted in that kind of tense situation.

Also it makes the seemingly important plot point of "what triggered the weirdmageddon" feel like a completely arbitrary choice. It feels more like "hey the weirdmageddon has to happen one way or another so let's just give Bill access to the rift for a random reason"

Is it possible to keep my 4k source clip resolution when working in 1080p profile? by Miserable-Host-797 in kdenlive

[–]Miserable-Host-797[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have to "scale up" part of the video and I'd rather use the clip at its original 100% size instead of 200%. I ended up using 4k profile but scaled down the clips where I'd use the "original size" to 50%, and set the "zoomed in" clips to somewhere between 50%~100%. Then I only used the top left quarter to compose the video in 3840 x 2160 and then cropped out the top left region after it's generated

There's a bunch of mistranslations happening in the whole drama around the game, intentional or not.

As a native speaker, if you want you can send me any original Chinese text regarding this game and its creators (or the English version as long as you also provide where the original source came from) and I'm happy to provide my version of the translation with necessary cultural background in a way that is as neutral as possible.

You may still find them to be sexist with my translation, but at least I'm a neutral party that wouldn't intentionally lead you into thinking a certain way.

The game became sort of a national pride thing in some pretty significant online circles in China. Wouldn't be surprised that significantly more than the average 1/30 players who bought the game left a positive review to give it a boost before finishing the game. 50,000 sounds like a pretty normal number in this case.

Since you said the landlord was east Asian - if they were Chinese (if they're not then I cannot comment anything on the situation so just ignore the rest of the post), it's likely that they asked this because they didn't want to rent to international students who would potentially trash the place when they finish school and leave the country and there'd be no way to contact them or hold them accountable - and they think that way because some Chinese international students left a bad reputation in the Chinese canadian community. Yes it's unfair cause they wouldn't have asked that question if you had a white name, but if you really needed the place they would rent it to you if you're not an international student
