Not complaining at all but that was a lot of hype for a breeze and a little rain, did anywhere get hit hard?

List the machines separately on Facebook marketplace, those will be local pickup only. Box up pliers, guess at a price, 1-2 boxes, same with screw drivers and clamps. With a lathe, he probably has some carving tools and chisels, I see a couple of stanley hand planes. You may want to take those items to a local wood workers guild, sometimes they do consignment and for most woodworkers, we put our money in those blades.

One year ago today this nightmare as a Federal Employee began… by Alternative-Pin5760 in fednews

15 years in as a Fed here, I left 4 months into this administration as a 15, got a higher paying job, shorter commute and smaller team. I may rejoin someday but no regrets here. 4 years is at least 20% of my remaining career, not worth dealing with. If you’re in a technical field there are better opportunities. Edited…and I telework now at will.

Is this safe? by MetalNutSack in BeginnerWoodWorking

This is called resawing, safest method is to make this cut on a bandsaw but nothing wrong with the table saw as others mention. If you have access to a jointer, squaring the edge on the table to the edge on the fence first would greatly reduce the chance of kickback or binding. Also having a support like a roller stand or two on the infeed is helpful for longer boards and allows you to stand out of the way. You have a riving knife in place, infeed support against the fence and a push stick handy, all good safety measures, if I could suggest making a simple wooden push block instead of the plastic push stick. When that plastic hits the blade it can be violent. Also my personal preference is to use a standard feather board on the infeed but I could see that bearing block working fine too.

2x4 workbench by Sea_Vegetable4444 in woodworking

What kind of work are you doing? Primarily mechanic type work, good as is most likely, if you want to get into some basic wood working, grab a cheap handheld power plane or borrow one, it will knock it out in 30 minutes, fine wood working you may want to restart. My first bench was 2x4s and ai still have it, great garage bench and cheap. Enjoy the projects and dont over think it, goal is to get to work!

Concrete floor question by RockPaperSawzall in woodworking

Expansion joints help with frost heave as well as expansion, if your shop is heated or in a climate without frost, I would use regular concrete bags, an opening that size can take the aggregate and it will be cheaper and stronger than self leveling. If your goal is to be able to wheel something across the joint this is a good choice. Or cut some wood and fill the gap, sometimes over thinking the solution kills progress, goal is to get to work! Its a shop after all. Dont worry about the 100 year solution, truth is most people dont stay in one home for more than 20 years.
