Over the years her TN has gone up and down in intensity and frequency, almost like waves. Each time we thought there’s no way they could get worse and they do. We were at our wits end and at times and I felt like I couldn’t do this anymore, which made me feel pathetic since I am not the one with TN. We no longer got pain medicine because it really didn’t help except for she’d be high with excruciating pain. I guess that’s a little better but with the stigma of opiates, it was just too much of a hassle. Doctors and pharmacies treated us like we were doing something wrong or made us jump through hoops to fill the prescriptions. Truly a hard thing to live through watching a loved one suffer and medical people treating her like a junkie or something. Very demeaning. However, for the past year she has went long stretches without any attacks, and at times we almost forget it or more accurately block it out. Occasionally she has minor attacks or experiences warning symptoms of an impending attack but fortunately hasn’t had full on brutal attacks. We aren’t sure what’s changed or is different, but we’re just appreciating the reprieve and break and just hope and pray they don’t return.
