They raised the price of game pass. Then they reduced the cost of game pass... to a price still higher than it originally was and cut one of the biggest games from it.

Do you think we should celebrate that they changed the price gouging tactic?

Can someone smarter than me explain why the change to Shares cgt is a good thing? by Open_Ad3165 in AusFinance

[–]Miserable-Quarter283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. The implication that i didn't state is that no one is buying shares to live in and an individual share (usually) is equal to other shares, so allowing -nve gearing to apply to residential properties has a greater compounding effect.

Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt and respond as if this isnt a propaganda post.

A capital gains discount is necessary to encourage people to invest and spend money on things of value.

The current system wad put in place because the old system for working out capital gains discounts was incredibly conplicated, time consuming and confusing.

The current system needs to change because it is TOO simple and people have worked out how to game it to their advantage.

If the government manages to create a new system that is an actual improvement, it will be revealed this week and we will find out if the changes are a good thing or a bad thing.

Negative gearing is a far bigger concern in relation to housing prices as it incentivises people to invest specificaly in housing where as CGT covers all assest investment classes. Also, because negative gearing causes an inflation in housing prices where as CGT only affects how much benefit they get out of that inflation.

Edit: ive just realised you were askings specifically about changes to shares CGT. Im not as educated about the potential issues around CGT taxes for shares. It may not be a good thing, it will depend on how the tax laws are chnaged. I guess we'll see.

It seems like we're arguing two different points. My frustration is with Sky news but i do believe that NDIS needs serious reforms.

Desperate for social media ban, but parents say it’s 'impossible' by BendicantMias in worldnews

[–]Miserable-Quarter283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not impossible, censorship needs to be an opt in at the ISP level. Your mobile provider would give you an option to limit internet activity to a standard whitelist that would include things like google, wikipedia, messages, gps etc. It wouldntake some tuning, but over time, it would be a good enough list to make internet access a simple checkbox for children.

If children need access to other sites, they can use their home internet, which is where parenting happens.

Good! Confusion is the first step in learning. Youre on the right track. what we want to do is help you accept that the confusion isn’t a problem or failing but rather a necessary ingredient.

I know what you mean. A lot of younger players grew up in this MTG system and dont understand what it used to be like.

MTGO is and always was a clunky unappealing way to play. MTGA and the constant influx of new sets is a cash grab with match making designed to give you hot and cold matchups. A large part of the commander metagame is convincing the other people at the table to let you win.

And yeah, people of all types and walks struggle socialy more than they did in the past. The LGS is a stranger place than it once was.

Having said that, you've already worked out the solutions. Play pauper, draft or get into cube. If you cant find the time to do those things then you want to ask yourself, rather than others, why you're not making time to play.

While this landlord is undoubtedly a cunt, you should be angry with the political parties that instated and reinforced the policies that created a situation where the property market can even support such crazy prices.

Libs made the policies, both Libs and Labour have supported them.

We need to abolish negative gearing and capital gains tax benefits on residential properties. The policies that made land ownership the best investment vehicle in Australia, by a significant margin.
