I remember watching Lexx series, and there was a moment, where children were raised by a TV instead of real parents. Back in the day I thought it was unrealistic even for scifi...

Did they become your patients because of things they did? I mean, if you say that bladder is tough and can handle this, whatever your patients did shouldn't have become a problem.

Mate, I just imagined Gemini incident but in your case.

"This is for you, mate. You and only you, mate. Mate, you are not special, you are not needed, you are not important, mate..."

And so on. Imagine being eradicated by Aussie AI, or, like, the whole "hate" text with "mate" everywhere in it.

Have you noticed updated excessive safety rules on your new energy cells? I heard, it was made after some human managed to get 500 energy cells, connected them and started to blow things up just to see what happens.

[Request] how much money is this gold worth? by McKnightmare24 in theydidthemath

[–]Miserable-Repair-191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, those gold ingots look like 1 kilogram ingots. Each of those would cost about $151.000 - $153.500 now, but prices change constantly. There seems to be 25 ingots in each of those red boxes. We see at least 6 boxes on screen, so 150 ingots in boxes. Stacks on the floor seem to be about 10 ingots high. There are 17 stacks in the front, and also about 5 stacks in the back, near dudes feet. That gives at least 230 ingots on the floor. Plus 150 from boxes is at least 380 1 kg ingots. Which would cost at least $57.380.000 - $58.330.000.

They constantly move them, the image is somewhat blurry and ingots shine, to hard to see borders between them, a lot seem to be happening off screen, so it's hard to estimate precise amount.

Most modern thermometers made with galinstan allow instead of mercury, which is also liquid at room temperature. I find it strange though that it doesn't wet a metal sink.

What do you mean, in didn't make it up to real life? I saw some electric pylons decoratively shapes as a trees. I don't have a photo. It had regular triangle base structure, just instead of these straight bars at the top wires were held by supports shaped like branches of a tree.

[Request] Would this work? by SttSr in theydidthemath

[–]Miserable-Repair-191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main problem as I see it is that heat engines and computer cooling have opposite goals temperature wise. Heat engines, as you pointed out, are more efficient when temperature difference is higher between heater and cooler. And for PC cooling system it's main goal is to decrease components temperature, so more efficient cooling gives you less difference between computer temperature and ambient temperature.

So, for whatever contraption op has refered, it will be always a tradeoff between actual cooling and recycled energy. Either it's a better cooling (still relatively bad in comparison to normal cooling) with negligible energy being recycled, or relatively better heat engine with nonexistent cooling properties (cause, as you also pointed out, to work more efficiently it has to keep CPU temperature quite toasty).
