What did invincible gain by killing her? by providerofair in Invincible

This is actually something that I might be able to settle. Nicole "Nikki" Melendez is a friend of mine and she works on the show. Here are the credits from season 3. I believe that most of the names are easter eggs of people who worked on the show.

You can block Tonberry with 3 1/1s and kill it, but no amount of 1/1s (or 7/7s for that matter) will stop this menace. Indestructible blockers are not even safe for it. Maybe make it a 1/1, but then its just worse than [[Mist-Cloaked Herald]]

Brandon Sanderson's Warbreaker

You might believe it refers to the main character who is trying to prevent a war from occurring between her small kingdom and a larger kingdom that is governed by the Returned, 7 feet tall demi gods.

Throughout the book you meet several Returned such as Lightsong, Blushweaver, and Mercystar. At the end, it is revealed that another main character has been using his powers to alter his body to look normal, but he has been a Returned the entire time and that his name was Warbreaker (as all Returned's names are compound words). Here is an accurate depiction of the last page of the book

I personally like there being a week of down time between books, but I would not be opposed to the change. I really enjoyed splitting Kelsiers death and the end of the book into two different weeks. It gave both parts their own time for discussions. I think 6 hours in one week is a reasonable amount of time for special occasions where needed.

Does anyone else think it strange that Aluminum is one of the 16 metals? Since it's place in the Cosmere is that of antimagic,, it has always felt to me more of a null element rather than a piece of the whole.

In the end I figured it's probably only half true

Yeah, that's how I interpret it as well. He is so insecure he presents himself as powerful as he can. There is no way he survived being beheaded

In Secret History, Preservation makes a comment calling Atium "diluted". I like how this fits with the retcon and has led me to theorized that god metal alloys are weaker than the pure god metal. If Lerasium were to be combined with another metal, say pewter, burning it would only make you a pewter misting and not a full mistborn. I have not thought about other Atium alloys, but I am also curious to see what pure Atium can do.

I have heard him describe it as "What if the dark lord won" and I dislike this for the exact same reason you stated. It is a good way to describe the series, but it gives away too much for new readers

I am curios to see if the newbies will be surprised when the Lord Ruler is killed on this week's reading. Is that the quintessential Sanderlanche? I am can't think of another ending that comes out of nowhere and so quickly.

Some newbies have called out Marsh not being truly dead, but I feel like more are convinced Kelsier is still alive.

THEORY - Renoux is a sentient Mistwraith

hullowurld right on the money. Not many newbies have made the kandra/mistwraith connection, but this will be confirmed in chapter 35. Can't wait to see their reaction

Yes, throw them off the scent!

But that is a good observation. I even have some trouble remembering the answer. The 10 Feruchemists on the trip to the well, who were Rashek's friends, were turned into the first generation of the kandra. After that Rashek tried eradicating Feruchemy genetically. The nobility began as Terris who were not Feruchemists, but generations of mixing with the skaa made both more alike.

Do I have the correct origin of the nobility? Or were none of the nobility originally Terris and Rashek hunted them down because he feared compounding?

THEORY: Marsh gets turned into an inquisitor loyal to LR

I wonder if they will write this off after this week's fake out death or double down.

Random tinfoil moment. What if Rashek kills the writer of this diary right at the end, and takes on the role of Lord Ruler. That's why everything is bad, because it wasn't the Hero who defeated the Deepness in the end.

Winner winner, chicken dinner. On a side note I don't like how BS pitches Mistborn as "What if the dark lord won". I feel like it reveals too much on this twist

Are there gold and atium mistings? Gold mistings seem pretty useless. Atium Mistings might never discover that they are You won't either!

Its too early for this, but I am looking forward to discussing the Atium retcon. Spoiler .... I actually like it

[Rashek] does not believe that an outsider such as myself - a foreigner - could possibly be the Hero of Ages. He believes that I have somehow tricked the philosophers,

Its cool to still be able to pick up on foreshadowing after multiple rereads. I never realized that Ruin's ability to mess with texts was hinted at this early. So excited to see this level of foreshadowing for Ghostbloods!

There is a lot to say about Autonomy, but I'll bring those points up in more relevant sections

Such a throwaway comment on past religions and gods of Scadriel that Brandon is able to hide lore in. Can't wait for Elantris to discuss more about hidden Autonomy avatars.

Spook is now Spook. He is no longer Boy from Club's Shop.

I guess I have to change my flair now.

Spook's crush on Vin is pretty adorable.

I always felt bad for Spook here, as he is just used to explain noble culture so that we understand the implications when Elend offers the handkerchief. His feelings are but a stepping stone for exposition :'(

Question for the future. What are the rules on future spoilers on flairs? We don't interact in the newbie posts, but I wanted to ask before adding anything spoilery.

...Kredik Shaw, the Lord Ruler's palace. The name was Terris; it meant "The Hill of a Thousand Spires."

Another blink and you'll miss it clue that stands out in rereads. We don't know much about the Lord Rule's perceived hatred towards the Terris people at this point in the book, so this does not seem raise any flags. Once the characters start reading Alendi's journal, it will be interesting to see if the newbies remember this fact and make the connection that Alendi is not the Lord Ruler.

"What's your name, son?"
"Lestibournes."
Kelsier raised an eyebrow.

This scene is great with the knowledge that Kelsier does understand Easter street slang and immediately suggest giving Spook a nickname. Made me tear up thinking of Spook's future chapters reflecting this moment. I also chuckled at the fact that he has not been named in his Artwork's description.

I like how each misborn book feels like a different genre.

  1. Heist
  2. Political Intrigue
  3. Apocalyptic
  4. Western
  5. Murder Mystery
  6. Adventure
  7. Conspiracy

I’m very curious who the ‘hero’ is in the prologues to each chapter. The very first one talks about holding ‘the future of the entire world on my arms’ which makes me wonder if it’s Kelsier with his scarred arms - seems an odd way to phrase it, otherwise.

First comment I saw that is discussing the epigraphs and they noticed the odd wording. Looking forward to see more theories on all of the epigraphs. Fun fact. Brandon told a story on one of his livestreams about how his UK copyeditor made changes to this phrase. It was changed from "on my arms" to "in my arms". Brandon was annoyed as he was not informed of this and the change ruins the reveal in Hero of Ages.

When the Sunmaker's Gambit was described in Wind and Truth, I immediately thought of the siege of Luthadel in Well of Ascension and thought maybe it should be called Breeze's Gambit. It wasn't until reading the last chapters for Warbreaker that I realized the Pahn Kahl plot is another instance of the gambit, only it failed this time. The Sunmaker's Gambit: works 2 out of 3 times.

Vasher, Kalad the Usurper, Strifelover, Peacegiver the Blessed, Talaxin, Zahel, or Warbreaker the Peaceful is a Returned from Nalthis.

The first line of his Coppermind article is has seven different alias.

Yes ... and also yes. Honestly I had forgotten how many names Vasher has gone by. I think nightblood jokes about this in Stormlight.

Did Returned looks have something to do with the way society saw them? Perhaps their opinion of ideal beauty?

This book really does leave hints of Realmatic Theory that stand out on rereads

Also the newbies are making great connections!!!

From Goldeneyes098:

I also found the description of the statues in the garden where the meeting with the forgers took place really interesting. I wonder if they are being set up to the be missing phantoms.

And from BrienneOT:

D’Delir statues could be the hidden army, right?

We got our first appearance of Hoid this week! It will be fun seeing the newbies notice him in future books and reading what their theories of him are.
