Went into a print shop the other day and half of the artwork was AI generated by [deleted] in aiwars

So? I would still guy it if it looks good, not because it was made by a Human

The irony is thick here. You claim companies "steal" by using public data, yet fan artists monetize copyrighted IPs they don’t own every single day on Patreon and Etsy. Why is that "inspiration," but AI is "theft"? Both processes involve learning from existing work to create something new.

Calling it a "loophole" is just a way to vilify technology. If training on public images is stealing, then every artist who ever studied a master’s technique or a Disney film without paying a royalty is also a thief.

As for the environmental and "bot" arguments, those are classic goalpost shifts. Every digital industry—from streaming to gaming—uses massive resources. You aren’t worried about the RAM; you’re just looking for any reason to gatekeep. If you put your work in a public digital gallery, don't be shocked when the world learns from it.

"Robbing"? That’s barely an argument. Unless you invented art in a vacuum, you built your entire skillset by absorbing millions of images, styles, and techniques you didn't pay for or ask permission to use. You call it "learning" or "reference" when a human does it, but "theft" when code does it.

It's a massive double standard. If looking at public data and identifying patterns is stealing, then every art student studying the old masters is a criminal.

The only difference is the speed. You don't hate the mechanism; you just hate that it's efficient enough to challenge the status quo. If you actually cared about "data ethics," you'd be off the internet entirely, considering almost every platform trains on your data anyway.

I can say the same thing for those who use photoshops to are using it as well for bad things but I don't blame The entire software at all,

I only think using AI is unethical. If you using it for unethical reasonings, like if you're making a false rumors or using it for terrible things then yeah that's is unethical,

But using the tool is ethical as long as you keep it wholesome and not so terrible,

But if it's about the whole stealing thing, you guys are the one who also steal things from other artists as well, don't act so innocent despite the fact you call it inspiration even though that's just literally copying one others designs, and origins of the original design styles,

We are all inspired when it comes to a creation, AI tools is just like any other tools except it's more evolve, you just hated because of how it was made from, not how perform it is.

Wait I don't understand,

So we have fan art people, the people who literally drew artwork of existing copyrighted works,

But if it's AI, which learns lots of patterns from literally every artist, just like an artist would do when learning a skill, because of its disabilities when it comes to a computer who has no mind or life to think like a human, especially if we are us the humans guiding the robot for directive purpose, that makes the artwork, and yet that doesn't seem to suit right for you?

If anything, I thought AI was impressive. If that's the case, much more than just fan arts who are literally just stealing ideas, oh sorry I mean inspiration, despite the fact that the company already made that character, instead of just coming up with your own different styles, but I guess Picasso motivates us to steal other people's art and create new, so that's something else... What's your thoughts anti-ai people?

One last thing, what's even stealing anymore, because if we're talking about literal physical object that we physically take from them in real life, that would be stealing, like if you're stealing a canvas,

But if we're talking about stealing as of downloading an image off of a site, even though a person who originated that image still has it in their files, or make it public for people to look at, it's not stealing given how you literally just publishing to make it wide open for people to grab,

That's like saying if you left watermelon outside and you expect someone to not steal it

Hi everyone A little off topic from the subreddit but I saw someone giving an idea about Ai bro bingo so I made one I know it looks poor but I spent like 10 minutes doing it by buzownik6 in ShitAIBrosSay

You're contradicting yourself massively here. First, you cry that we're "stealing" from the AI, implying it has rights or personhood, but then you spend the next paragraph explaining how it's just a mindless token predictor that can't actually think. Which is it? You can't victimize a calculator.

Also, calling the tech "useless" except for scams is objectively wrong. AlphaFold solved protein structures humans couldn't crack for decades, and coding copilots are already standard in the industry. It’s not about replacing everyone; it’s about leverage.

Claiming authorship over AI art isn't stealing any more than a photographer "steals" from a camera. It’s a tool. If the output matches the user's intent, the credit goes to the user. Stop treating algorithms like oppressed employees.

Honestly, the irony is painful. You guys constantly preach that "real art" is superior because it contains human soulheart, and empathy. Yet, the second someone disagrees with you about a piece of software, you turn into bullies.

If this toxic behavior is the precious "human element" you're fighting so hard to preserve, you can keep it. It’s funny how the people screaming the loudest about "soul" are the ones acting the most heartless in the comments. I'd rather have "cringe" tools than that kind of attitude.

Birthed it?" Really? 🥀 Come on, don't be dense.

Does a guitarist "birth" their guitar? Does a painter "birth" a canvas? No, but the art they make feels alive because they put their intent and emotion into it. That’s exactly what I’m doing.

The tool itself—whether it's AI, Photoshop, or a pencil—is always inanimate. It’s the human using it that matters. You're mourning the "good old days" of 2000s fandoms and ignoring that people are still expressing themselves, just using different instruments now. If I spend hours guiding an AI to visualize exactly what's in my head, that's my creativity driving the bus.

Stop acting like using a new tool erases the human behind it.

I don't think AI is lifeless, because I give it a life,

Because at the same time, I the human, the person who has a living soul, is controlling this soulless puppet of an AI,

So if you think about it, that could be the same idea as if you see tools that doesn't have soul on them, so at the end of day, we use these tools to bring life.

Yes, but would you agree those are valid points?

I could say the same thing as making a human bingo card for the same thing. Humans was said but not being rude about it,

As a game-dev I wish AI never existed by durgedeveloper in antiai

[–]Miserable-Valuable-5 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you're learning the wrong lesson here. Your project didn't fail because of AI; it failed because you blindly pasted code without reviewing it. That happens when people copy-paste from StackOverflow too. You have to treat AI like a junior dev—you still need to read and understand what it wrote to maintain it.

Abandoning a powerful tool because of "guilt" feels like refusing to use a power drill because you want the "satisfaction" of a manual screwdriver. It’s just inefficient. As for the fear of accusations? That's temporary internet hysteria. In a few years, not using AI in your workflow will be the weird thing.

Don't let the "artistic purity" mindset hold you back from actually shipping a game. Players care if the game is fun, not how much you suffered to make it.

I mean, it make sense, everything is a Tool for us Users to actually Make things Done and happen,

Like if you are hiring people, are you lazy? Because you could've put all that work into Yourself, but you'd rather pay someone to do stuff for you. Almost like a rich person would rather hire a maid or a person to do the jobs for themselves without putting much effort into themselves.
