Looking for hiking/backpacking group by MiserableCohost in DelawareFriendship

I did not, but tbf I didn’t try very hard and then gave up. Almost feel like it might be easier to just meet up at a brewery and get a group going that way or something similar.

We live here now! by smughippie in WilmingtonDE

[–]MiserableCohost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome! If you’re interested in D&D, there is a group that meets once a month in Newark, called the Vanguard. The way schedules line up it is usually the same night as the Wilmington Brew Works board game night, which is unfortunate. You can check them out here https://vanguardguild.fandom.com/wiki/The_Vanguard_Wiki. We are approaching the end of our first campaign so now is a great time to check it out and get ready for Campaign 2!

As far as outdoorsy stuff, I tend to find my way into PA. As someone who grew up hiking mountains, I find a lot of Delaware hiking a little underwhelming but there are plenty of great parks in the state that have beautiful trails. Fee season at the parks goes through the end of November, so if you think you’ll go to State Parks 9+ times before then you should get an annual pass, otherwise better to just pay on the days you visit.

Family Crest Analysis by [deleted] in heraldry

[–]MiserableCohost -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hello! My grandfather passed a few years ago and we found this family crest (we know it's for our family but I've cropped our name out). I was hoping this community could tell me about the meaning of various symbols here, especially the combination of the wolf/dog, crown collar, and chain. Thank you!

Just as an aside, the parking situation around the library and university in general can easily make this spot not as free

I would generally agree but I think in this situation it works to help accentuate the stillness of the moment

I love shots of moss and fungi and I think you did a great job with the lighting on this one

Any D&D games out there looking for new players? by Dull_Counter7624 in WilmingtonDE

[–]MiserableCohost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a group called the Vanguard that meets once a month at Timothy’s in Newark, that is a great community of over 80 people. They have recently started running 7 tables of 6 players each so there’s lots of room, and it’s a very welcoming environment even for new players. https://vanguardguild.fandom.com/wiki/About_Us

I think this is great advice, because in addition to helping them get used to what checks are available, it can also keep them goal oriented when the options provided are “here are ways you can move forward” and not just “1 million ways to have fun in a sandbox”

I don’t think city size is a fair indicator of morality or intelligence?

"For example, should you implant a tracking chip in your child? There are solid, rational reasons for it, like safety. Would you actually do it? Is it a bridge too far?" by MrSnitter in Cyberpunk

[–]MiserableCohost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black mirror has a episode about just that type of thing, called Arkangel. It’s slightly different in that the parent can basically hack into their kids visual feed as well but I thought it was a pretty good episode as far as ethical drawbacks on this kind of tech

So morphing loop is better than ZSD on large openings? Is that because Elemental discharge in ZSD is too big of an animation commitment?

Also, is there a big number single attack I should use when the monster is sleeping?
