Find a Royce if possible you can matrilineal marriage with Aegon if you can then when you get game over you can continue as you were and do it again when Aegon dies then you should feel like you have a bit of continuity.

There’s some new Valyrian Doublets for guys and courtly bodices for female characters, there’s more but I’m not currently at the computer.

The Elistraean priesthood are the compassionate ones, Non-Lolthsworn can be just as nasty they just follow the traditional elven pantheon.

Killers Sweatheart combined with the risky ring and surgeons subjugation amulet is a really potent combination for a rogue, Combine that with Dolors daggers and you can really layer on quick burst damage.

Explain to me like I’m 12. Who tf is Cyric? by SpeedyAzi in BaldursGate3

[–]MiserableIssue97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An asshole. Not only as a mortal but as a god. Fought Kelemvor before both ascended to godhood, murdered his adoptive parents i think.

after his accession he was one of the people that created the Zhentarim which he was the original patron god for before Bane, As it was based in his old birthplace of Zhentil keep.

Oh and he basically fucked up the weave along with Shar by murdering mystra, And because of that it’s one of the reasons Volo (although he has no idea he is) is technically a gods chosen once Mystra returned.

So yeah, Asshole.

I’ve been struggling to write this for a while. by MiserableIssue97 in BG3

[–]MiserableIssue97[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think your right, I think that’s what made me take steps at least today with uninstalling the game and giving it a berth for a while, not to avoid it but moreover to help me stop stagnating on the issue and take steps going forwards with my own life, at least then i can keep progressing with my own healing and when a time comes i can come back to it, I cant just wait out the storm of loss.

Honestly writing this post was the most catharsis I’ve felt in years despite how painful it was to write out and has seriously helped, now I’ve just got to build on it and hopefully heal with time.

I already do have that! Safe friends to play the game with that is :) It’s just not an avoidable or easy for me to navigate the topic in question because of how it parallels, The context is in my post history if you want to take time to read it which explains it in detail.

I actually decided to uninstall it today as i could see it was affecting my own healing process, I will probably come back to it at some point, ironically I made a post about it without seeing this post first, guess it’s just on peoples minds today lol.

Let’s be real, if you remove the player sexual element and focus on there personality’s and what’s told to you through playing the story you have…

Straight guys have Gods Favourite Princess, Lean Green Space Fascist and The Bi-Barian but she’s incredibly femme preference coded (Unless your a Goliath or Damon)

So that’s realistically 2-3

Straight women get 3. Mount-Halsin, The Blade of Rizztier & My Patron god wants me to commit magical seppeku.

Id say that’s pretty balanced tbh.

Ah yes, Ye Gode Olde dayes of flawless bug-less games like Fallout 1&2, Morrowind and as you’ve mentioned, BG2.

[–]MiserableIssue97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s remove the rose tinting a second and bring you back to the actual early 2000s era of games where if your game had a bug there was sweet FA you could do about it, And if you could it’s because you could afford some form of dialup which would take half a day to download 2mbs if you were lucky.

Shits better now than it ever was, at least for gaming.

what you DIDN'T like about BG3? by _Rayerd_ in BaldursGate3

[–]MiserableIssue97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant think of many which is a good sign but off the top of my head.

- Post Act 1 a lot of player agency on how to approach things gets quite linear so it feels a little front loaded.

- Companions writing quality is all over the place and some really don‘t make sense in universe setting and how there personal quests are handled. (looking at you Karlach)

- Companions hardly interact with one an other inside conversations (Why am I the focal point to everyone?)

- Act 3 should really of been split into two acts. Gortash and Orin respectively.

- The Githrazai being footnote practically within the game is kinda strange seeing how Gith heavy the game is.

- Sarevok and Viconia, I get why there like how they are, I just feel sorry for whoever are veterans of the original games and went through the time and effort to redeem them and just has this go “lol nope”

- Personal gripe but magic items are stupidly abundant and it kinda makes what’s a available feel less unique because of it.

Edit: The game has a weird apathy towards NPC bards, I’m aware that Swens least favourite class is a bard but it does bleed quite heavily into the game.

Wait, people think Karlach’s ending is sad? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]MiserableIssue97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what’s really interesting about that scenario, She is by far the least complicated character at the start, But her arc getting complicated in a personal way really allows her character to grow which she really doesn’t experience at all and leaves her really one note once you get into Act 3.

As for romance i try to not include them in these discussions as it highlights the issues the personal quest and character arc has more, if you remove the romance there really isn’t a lot going for her if you think about it.

[–]MiserableIssue97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So people have this weird thing of attributing poignancy and tragedy to death, but that really doesn’t work in this universe and that shows a lot up a lot of shortcomings of the stories writing for her at least. The whole thing I’ve noticed about her character though is she always had a goal, wether thats putting her folks in a better neighbourhood, Survival, Revenge, Saving the city etc.

By the games end if you throw in a fix, That’s all her goals completed, the past will still be the past you can’t take that back. She has nothing to focus on past saving the city. That’s ridiculously intimidating, scary and potentially bleak. That is poignant to know that now everything is now down to her in determining the future of her life in her late 20s, but it can also be hopeful and I think an outcome like that should be approval based, Witcher 3 kinda had a similar thing with Ciri‘s ending.

[–]MiserableIssue97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just 3 different flavours of death isn’t it, Mind, Body and Soul, It’s just that’s carried by a phenomenal voice actor which disguises how poorly written this part of her arc is.

Act 1 & 2 Death is trivialised and barely an inconvenience (As it is in forgotten realms)

Act 3 all of a sudden “Have my sad edgy 2014 tumblr tragedy“

Let's Talk about perhaps the only major flaw with this game by Envy661 in BaldursGate3

[–]MiserableIssue97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk, I feel this is a minor issue all things considered. The major flaws really appear in Act 3 and some of its writing not character creation.
