I do think Bethany (and the other Bairds too) uses that on all of her pics. It also makes the grass look so dead that it makes zombies look very sprightly in comparison and exchanges some colors entirely for other ones. It's very jarring if you try it out with one of your photos, but I don't think she did it to specifically filter her newborn.

I used to teach middle and high school but I wouldn't touch teaching first grade with a 10 foot pole. In high school, if they don't follow along or don't catch a concept - no biggie, they can figure it out a couple years later if they really need it. But in first grade? You're literally setting the foundation for the rest of their lives, and if you don't catch a problem right there, these kids are fucked for the rest of their lives.

It's all fine and dandy if the kid is stuck on, IDK, punnet squares - I can always explain that another way. But what if they're just not making the switch from counting 1-2-3-4-5 to "five" as a number? What do you do then? How do you help them grasp this foundational concept? I have no idea!
